Help, Identity Theft and a Background Check with USCIS

Last year I had to put a freeze on my credit files with all three credit bureaus because my identity was stolen. Does this affect the background check that USCIS is conducting on me? I'm stilling waiting for our NOA2 to come in yet... but I was just wondering if I have anything to worry about? Do I have to lift the freezes? This might be a stupid question but it came to me.

Sorry to hear this, what a nightmare. My (now) husband had a similar issue that started a few years ago too, but so far thankfully it hasn't had an impact. I've kept copies of several key documents proving the ID theft in my immigration files, just in case it ever comes up down the line. Really nasty business, best of luck that you resolve yours swiftly.

Yeah, I have a 7 year freeze on all 3 credit bureaus but it was a pain last year to do it and go to the police station. Having your identity stolen is hell, but luckily everything has been smooth sailing for about a year now. Thanks for the insight, it's very helpful.
