My one year extension will expire on 08/08/2017, I filed I-751 last year to CSC and has no respond after fingerprint. Does anyone know what will happen if i could not get approval before that 08/08 and what should I expect other than get infopass? Going to graduate in August and actively looking for job, it will be really inconvenience without permanent status.

I've read that some people in this situation, i.e. letter expiring and with expired passport, have been able to make an InfoPass, bring two passport photos, and get a special document made that means the same thing as the I-551 stamp. Might be worth a try.

CSC is only working on cases from June 2016 :( My application was received July18th 2016 so I have quite a wait too. I am due to travel right at the end of my extension period ( I arrive back in the US 2 days before my extension runs out) I have been advised I can either go to infopass for a stamp in my passport - (4 hour drive each way for my nearest office) or take my chances as the extension is still valid right up to the day it expires........

Get a new passport with your consulate and then get the stamp. You do not want that to expire . It will allow you to travel and work. Very very very urgent .

(Note: technically, your status doesn't expire. It's just your proof of status that expires.)

you don't need a passport for an i551 stamp.

Bring two passport photos and they will produce a stand-alone picture for you, and whilst your application is pending, you still have your LPR status, you just do not have the card.
