I had filed I-751 in May as my conditional green card was expiring in June 2017. I gave my biometrics and received a notice stating that my green card had been approved and I could travel with the notice until my green card doesn't arrive. How long does it take for my green card to come in?

Are you referring to the NOA1?

That automatically extends your green card (conditional status) for a year until the I-751 was approved. And yes, you may travel with that official letter and your expired (physical) green card.

- Removal of Conditions Timeline -

07/31/17 - Mailed I-751 package to California Service Center

08/01/17 - Package delivered to CSC

08/05/17 - NOA1 received by US mail

08/10/18 - Rec'd new NOA1 with 18 month extension instead of 12 months

10/15/18 - Case transferred to Nebraska

12/26/18 - ROC Approved

I-751s, especially those filed in California, are taking a really long time. Currently, it's taking a little over a year, and proceeding so slowly that many people are saying/hearing that one should expect the process to take in the neighborhood of 1.5-2 years. Don't worry; you are still in status during all of this time; and if/when your extension letter mentioned in the post above expires, you can get another kind of stamp in your passport to prove your status.

Edit: I read your post again, and you said you got a notice your green card was approved already? That seems awfully fast, but the ways of the USCIS are mysterious. If that is indeed the case, I think people say the card usually comes within a few weeks, but can be up to 60 days? Does it give a time frame on the notice you received?
