It is a perfect storm.  In April USCIS was directed to put family visas on the back burner as they focused on business visas.  That on top of a less than immigration friendly administration and here we are.  They are still working but we are not a priority as we were in the past.

That part I understand, but not why USCIS are holding onto approved files for 6-8 weeks before sending to NVC. What's the reason for that? It doesn't make sense.

My uninformed thought is to save money.  They wait until that have a certain sized box filled then they send it all at one time.  I don't know this but it seems logical to me.  As soon as they have enough, they ship them.

Ugh, that does seem like a reason. A totally unreasonably, farcical and criminally unfair reason. I wish someone could give them - as we say in the UK - a right good bollocking. But we know the current administration has no interest in making this easy for anyone. I'm very aware that entering any country like this is a privilege, however when we pay a good amount of money upfront and play by the rules, I would expect a lot fairer treatment.

I agree.  Security should always be a priority but we ARE following all the rules...we ARE doing this through legal means.  If anything, I have a much better understanding why people do this illegally now.  We are being treated like criminals and we are the ones doing everything legally.

Hello to my fellow August filers and waiters. My fiancée and I have been waiting 147 days. While we are waiting we are trying to get all the necessary paperwork together. But my Fiancée and I have a question regarding the Police records. Does the US citizen/petitioner need to obtain and hand in a Police Record from each city since the age of 16?

Thank you,

Thank you,

No.  They have the FBI for US Citizens.  Only the beneficiary needs to submit the police reports.

The status of this service request is:

On 12/26/2017, you contacted U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) about your I-129F because you believe your case is outside normal processing times.

Your case is currently delayed because the required security checks are still pending. We cannot make a decision on your case until we receive the results of these security checks.

We hope this information is helpful to you.

we have pressed them with a lot of expedites and asking for help for our emergency. Does this mean it worked?

It means your case is pending security checks. Security checks have no timeline...they could be days, weeks, months, or longer. Most take a matter of days.

Thank you! what can she use to show ties?  she will have a return ticket, also can she have a letter from work? would that suffice?

The return ticket (within 90 days!) is strictly required for VWP travel anyway. :P

A letter from work for when she is due back is good. So are copies of property.housing arrangements that require her to be back (i.e. a mortgage, or at least a lease). Basically, anything that compels her to leave the US on time is good.

It's unusual to be denied entry, especially with an ESTA. The suggestions above are best practice, but overall I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Just did a few depressing calculations for a best case POE...

NOA1 was on August 18th for me, so with the trend of NOA2 taking about 200 days, that would be an NOA2 on March 6th with no RFE. About 50 days to send to NVC is May 5th. 10 days at NVC is May 15th. 30 days for interview June 14th. 10 days for VOH (Visa on Hand) would be June 24th. 7 days for POE is July 1st :(
