Hi guys! I’ve been reading on here that the US passport isn’t good enough for the interview? My fiancé (petitioner) has lost his birth certificate so would a copy of his passport suffice for the interview?

(also do they want my birth certificate for the interview as well?)

thanks!!!

From what I understand, your birth certificate and passport must be with you during the interview. The petitioner’s passport and birth certificate are not needed.

Hey there,

I found these links helped:

I also searched by my fiance's consulate (Canada) reviews and got this list here. From what I've read, you will also receive a list of necessary documents prior to your interview. But for the sake of your question, here's what I found from others who attended an interview at a Canadian consulate (I'd assume it's mostly the same everywhere, but you may want to check with your fiance's consulate reviews as well - and ultimately you will get a list anyways):

- Proof of Payment (instructions or email when you booked the interview)
- Passport and photocopy of passport (biography page only)
- 2 US passport sized photos
- Proof of Canadian status, if you are not a Canadian citizen
- Original birth certificate (long form) and photocopy
- Original police check
- Original intent to marry from petitioner (within 30 days of interview)
- Original I-134 Form
- Copy of most recent year's IRS tax return/ receipt

Happy holidays

I've just wrote this for the trave topic and wanted to put it here in case anybody is wondering

----

Hi everyone

just putting my experience for anyone who's worried.

I'm at the stage of waiting for noa2 (day 100 today) and from Turkey (but traveling from Japan). I have a B1/B2 visa that I got around 6 years ago.

And this is my 3rd time this year,

1)  before petition in May for 12 days - they asked me lots of questions at this time nothing out of ordinary though but it was my first travel to US in 5 years so I thought it was normal.

 2) right after the petition filed (we got noa1 when I was in US that week) they asked how long and for what- I told them to visit my fiancé who's in the hospital- nothing else.

3) (yesterday) Ive entered from LAX yesterday together my fiancé, we had two cats with us so we asked to line up together and I entered through the US citizens line. They asked if we were married and My fiancé said "soon", I said hopefully- the lady just said why hopefully- I said uscis is taking their time this year- and that's it, nothing else no tickets no how longs.

all 3 times they gave me 6 months (and I can't believe I have to go back and can't stay for that long....)

Hi, August filers! I have an unusual question. I sent a letter to the USCIS a few weeks ago stating that we wanted to cancel our application for a K-1 visa. I have no idea if a letter would accomplish this or not but we have reconsidered our decision. We would like to go ahead and go through with this process. Our question is this, is there a way to keep this thing on track or get it back on track?

I am unable to get through on the phone system and just keep going in circles because I don't press the correct response or something.

Thanks for your input.

You would have to send another letter requesting to cancel with withdrawal of the I-129F. However, it's very possible they will see the withdrawal letter first and withdraw it at that time. If so, the petition is dead and a new one is needed.

I am wondering, if anyone could access the names of the applicants of K-1 Visa? Or search them via just entering name of the petitioner? Anyone know? Thank you.

No. Or more specifically, this information is not available publicly...I'm sure there's way for USCIS to do so.

Wow, my fiance is Turkish and we haven't tried applying for a travel visa because he thinks he'll get declined for not having an established permanent job, residence, etc. in Turkey. It would make things so much easier if he could visit me, but instead, we're "living" together in Montenegro for 90 days. Meanwhile, I'm applying for a Turkish travel visa which requires visiting an embassy. At least I'll be able to be there for his interview!

Hi guys,

Due to the further delays in the application process, my partner and I are debating having a short visit of about 2 weeks while we wait. My ESTA ran out but I have since been approved for a new ESTA which I would use when visiting. I'm just wondering if anybody has visited the US from the UK since filling and whether they have had any difficulties or been called into secondary when entering the states? In the past,  I have been a few times and have stayed for nearly the full 3 months but never overstayed. This visit would only be for 2 weeks as I cannot get more time off work so I would have proof of having to return to work. Do you think visiting should be okay?

Thanks

Hey there,

I am currently visiting my fiancé, and had absolutely no problem with my ESTA.

it shouldn't matter how long you stay, important is that you have a return ticket (i even had my boss sign a letter to say i will return to work Jan 8th).

N-400: 12/05/2023 (confirmed fingerprints are re-used)

Interview scheduled for: 05/09/2024
