I’m thinking a lot of us who filed in August could see our loved ones arrive in May.  I had originally expected to be getting married in March, and I’m so glad that I am a bit wedding-phobic and never made any firm plans.  I never wanted that whole white dress, center of attention thing, and I’m so glad for it at this point seeing what others are going through!!!

I never quite was either.. At first we were going to elope. Then family complained enough :) But it's still going to be fairly tiny

On a happier note, I suggest the reddit forum /r/weddingplanning for those who haven't seen/used it yet! Plenty of talk for elopements/small weddings/alternative weddings there

We will probably do Providence City Hall and take my parents and kids out to a very nice early dinner.  I’m hoping we can all video chat with his family too.  I don’t care about a wedding.  I want to get married and finally get to live our lives together and never ever be in separate countries again no matter what.  It’s time for everyone to be together!

I actually have more accurate bachelorette party plans than my wedding 😂😂😂😂 I believe my bachelorette party can be a reason to expedite! (None of my friends is in the state so it's more like a bye bye party 😭😭😭😭)

Whats up guys. August 7th filed. Fiancé coming from Costa Rica but is a Dominican Republic citizen..I got a question. My fiancé doesn't have a B2 visa (not sure if anyone else does or not), but due to a new recent job I can't travel and spend as much time as I once was down south, so I was wondering if she tried for the B2 visa to at least come visit here and there while we wait this out if that would effect anything or not for the k1. She tried for the B2 in May and was denied. Do you guys think it is worth another shot?

Thanks

I really don't think it worth the shot.

no it won't affect k1, but if she was denied in the last 6 months (or as close as may) and nothing has changed since then in her financial status. And on top of that started a k1 process that literally yells I'm going to immigrate... most likely will be denied again and it will be waste of money...

but then again this js only what what I would think if it was me, you guys can try and give it a go.i don't like discouraging people  :)

I want to do an elopement to the Poconos or a small 8 person ceremony at the Stroudmoor Inn, but my family are in New England and my parents aren’t interested enough in seeing me get married to drive that far.  They are rooting for me to finally have him here because I am sad a lot of the time, but they are just not super-involved with my life, especially my mother.  We don’t get along well.  Because it is important to my fiancé that my family be there, I will go up to Massachusetts to see them for that event, but all I want to do is spend a quiet and peaceful few days with him.  I think a wedding day should be happy and not turned into a dog and pony show for people who are indifferent and stress you out.  They would be very happy with a casual visit where they did not have to feel obliged to get dressed up, go to a venue and give a gift.  Any time at all spent around my mother is incredibly stressful for me.  At least I know that for the first time in my life I will have someone beside me who will not tolerate her saying mean and degrading things to me.  I will include them in the day in respect for his wishes, for my dad and for my two nearly-adult children.  And because immigration expects it.  But those lovely all-inclusive elopement packages sound so lovely coming off of the stress we all will have just gotten through with getting our loved ones here.  I would have a wedding every week with his family...lol!

The Poconos have a number of wonderful venues. The views in spring and fall are wonderful. I had mine up there earlier this year at a small golf club. :) Stroudsmoor is absolutely gorgeous, but they're always packed and needed at least 75 guests to get one of the nicer venues that we wanted.

I remember when mine said mid December.

Those were the good old days, my friend. :( Me and Mr. Hall are August 25th filer. Timeline started at late December. I was pissed because I was expecting that within 3 months, we will be receiving our noa2. Boy, I was wrong! (and maybe a light KARMA for complaining for a December timeline, LOL!:D) It kept getting pushed further and further. Now, timeline is at last week of Feb to 1st week of March. How cruel and frustrating is that??? Damn! I wish I hadn't complained about a possible December approval. I am hoping for a miracle at this point. I pray that there will be a speed up in the coming weeks. I don't know how to feel anymore. I don't even have the energy to be angry at them now. They are sucking the life out of me.  It's really hard to think of anything for the future because you can't make fixed plans in this situation. I really hate looking at my timeline. I just wish that I could be with him again before my birthday and that would be on May next year. :(

We want to go to Cove Haven too, but I didn't want to say that because it seems corny but still secretly exciting.  But not with relatives.

Hurry up and wait - If it goes a day past our projected processing date I'm lighting up the phones of Cardin, Van Hollen, Delaney and Raskin's offices. I crossed every T and dotted every I had attorney file everything after reviewing the documents.

This is an update of a graph I posted around one month ago when I compared April and May regarding the length of time from Received to Approved. Now I'm including June under the same conditions.

As a reminder, in the graphs below I try to compare what happened within the next 173 days after that last day of April, May and June received cases. In order to see it clearer I put them together in pairs.

In that time, with a total of 1394, 1507 and 641 approved cases (after removing some outliers) respectively:

  • April had a global mean of 153.08 days from Received to Approval date, with a standard deviation of 15.04 days.
  • May had a global mean of 169.95 days from Received to Approval date, with a standard deviation of 9.45 days.
  • June had a global mean of 181.61 days from Received to Approval date, with a standard deviation of 7.64 days.

After what we've seen over the last weeks it's not surprising to see that the times have worsened significantly in the last month and, what's worse, they have approved much less cases in the same period of time. The explanation for this might just be that it's Christmas and less adjudicators are working on cases... let's say with a less urgent attitude <_<

Hopefully everything will slowly start looking better from January on and we'll all have a happier beginning of the new year to come!

The good old days.. I was actually stressing cause I thought he'd be approved too soon! I just started working out of college and wouldn't have time to file my taxes with my new income if he was approved in December. Guess I added to the karma! And I'm hoping for the same as well, my birthday is also in May..

Or, if it gets pushed out super late, I guess we'll be able to skip our legal ceremony and just do the whole shebang at our church wedding.. There's a right side to everything I guess??

Life lesson! Don't complain because KARMA is on Bluetooth mode nowadays. Lol! :jest:

But kidding aside, I really really hope to have my POE before my birthday. With all of these things happening right now, I am losing hope a little. It's too frustrating. 😥😥😥
