The issue is the amount of backlogs, priorities, etc. There's nothing to imply they are just being lazy...at least the statistics available show processing speed hasn't been changed significantly since back when it was taking a month or so for NOA2 (other than blip in FY2017 Q2).

not sure if this has been said before but this waiting for noa2 really stinks. What I hate about this your relationship and your future all relies on someone making a decision whether your relationship is real or not, and I bet many who are real do get denied and that stinks. Your life on hold and all relies on someone saying "visa approved", as a USC I think it should be more easier than this current process.

I wasn't planning on going back until the interview time, but watching the timeline estimates get pushed 3 weeks since I started keeping track and Saturday night I was reading someone here said that back in July their estimated NOA2 was to be September and its now showing estimate as November so I said to myself that stinks (I used other words...) so I immediately booked another trip and I leave this month to stay 3 weeks with her.

Similar frustrations. Distance and time become cancerous in a relationship.

But, I don't blame the people doing the job.

I have to say though, cutting down the processing time could also lead to a lot of really toxic relationships between people that haven't been vetted properly.

Maybe the balance is with higher petition costs? Basically if you're willing to pay a lot of money, that should demonstrate some level of commitment, although the current processing fees aren't cheap.

I have a wedding and future children to plan for...which is why I can't keep travelling overseas. Thus, a further dilemma. Plus, the pressure on our jobs if we are taking too much time off.

I'd like to understand what priorities are being put on USCIS employees by the Trump administration that are starkly different from priorities established by the Obama or previous administrations. Any thoughts?

Yeah your probably right, I shouldn't say lazy that isn't the correct work, I would say the system is lazy and if the USCIS workers get piled a lot of files to go through then this is probably the reason for the longer than last year wait, but still.....waiting stinks :(

They are not government workers for the most part they are Contract Workers.

You would not believe how many files they have coming in each day.

Not a job I would want at all.

Like anywhere I'm sure there are those who are slower than others but overall I'm sure they are doing what they can.

This isn't coming from someone who already has their NOA 2. I've been waiting over 5 months now AND I've sadly been through this K-1 process before.

Hang in there best to occupy time with something else especially for the first 3-4 months.

My VJ approval estimate was back in August.

I stopped looking.

I found the perfect job for you @LabOz

https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/480535300

When you get the job, can you please work on my petition next?

The comment about contract workers surprises me.

With contract workers, you would think USCIS would be able to scale up and scale down better according to demand.

I had assumed the backlog has a lot to do with the red tape required to hire salaried employees (who receive a pension). If you consider that you will have to pay this employee 20+ years after retirement plus the benefits given to federal employees, there should be a major consideration about demand before any salaried employees are hired. But, with contractors, that shouldn't be as much of an issue.

Do you have any further information on this? I looked around, but wasn't able to find much.

So, perhaps the slowdowns are due to demand forecasting errors and the inevitable delay that results in the hiring and training process?

Very interesting.

Any thoughts?

Hey Lewisville, TX. Vally Ranch, TX here. Maybe moving to Lewisville soon.
Good luck on the packet. It took my fiancé and I almost 3 weeks. We filed early August and got our NOA1 email on the 16th.
