Has anyone checked status in the morning to see “received” and then refresh later the same day to see “approved”? I’m just trying to find extra hope in each day to keep me going!!!❤️

I do recall that has happened in the past.  They just happened to check the status and it was "approved".  No text or email indication, just in the app.

and to be honest...what do they actually know about the beneficiary?  A name and a birthdate.  USCIS doesn't have access to every database in every country.  The passport number isn't even required.  In the June forum, one of the recently approved filers from the UK noted that the "security check" performed is ONLY on the US citizen and that USCIS does not have access to all US databases.  There is a stamp on the front of the file stating this fact and the disclaimer that they are not responsible if the USC is actually a criminal...

So, background checks only take a few minutes to complete and only the US citizen is checked.  Extreme vetting may not be any excuse at all.

John, have just followed a little of your story and certainly no expertise to speak of but do you think your prior security clearance has impacted your review? I wonder if that’s put you in an extra extreme vetting process if you are privy to classified info. Heck, run away to marry your sweetheart and file the spouse visa!!! Happy thought to you and Rose!!! 💞

I'm the USC.  I don't believe that having the background check should be a negative to me.  It wasn't about weapons or anything fun.  It was for transportation infrastructure and access to millions of credit cards.  It sounds so boring that way!!!  I wish it was something more interesting.  I am trying so hard to figure out why this is happening.  I am completely clueless.  Rose and her family are pillars of the community.  Her uncle is running for the president of their village.  Her kids are at the top of their classes in school.  I am a boring person with a job in transportation and utilities.  No records and I own guns.  I would hope that they wouldn't allow me to own a gun if they felt I was some kind of risk.  The background check for me to buy a semi-automatic assault rifle takes about 2 minutes tops.  That is how long it takes USCIS to do their background checks too.

Hello everyone! I am new. Tomorrow I will be reaching exactly 6 months since I filed for the k-1 visa. My fiance from Chile is here visiting me in the US for a month. It would be the most WONDERFUL gift to hear from USCIS about our approval before he goes back... It's been really helpful reading up on everyone's story - to not feel alone in this!

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone can answer my questions...

I filed K1 Visa and received my NOA1 8/29/2017, my fiance is from Lebanon in the Middle East (anyone else file from Lebanon?)

I was curious as to if he is able to come visit on a tourist visa while we wait to hear what the news on his papers. Also, if my fiance comes to USA in April/May... (with hopes his papers got approved and such) can he return back to Lebanon in June if my family and I decide to go? Or will he not be allowed to enter USA again if he already entered on K1?

Also, SO SO annoyed with USCIS, was hoping to know what was going on with his papers by now. Do you guys think being that he is from a country in the Middle East it was take longer to approve his papers?

Thank you and wishing a swift process to all August filers!

I don't believe anyone here would argue against strong vetting and security.  If that is why I'm at 9 months then I completely understand.  That doesn't explain August, October and November approvals though.  If they are extreme vetting May and June, why do some November non-expedited filers get approval in under 70 days?  The extreme vetting argument disappears when some filers are approved in 68 days while others are waiting 270.

You’re in my prayers. Your case breaks my heart. It’s so unfair! Sending you positive vibes. 🍀🌹

To be honest, I feel like I don't know what I am talking about, but I'll take a shot. I have read mixed responses whether or not your fiance could come and visit. Basically there is a possibility for them to be turned away at customs (read that it depends on the staff, visa fraud suspicion, etc). I was really nervous about that, but me and my fiance decided to take a risk and SO happy we did! I advised him to not mention a single thing about the k-1 visa, but instead when asked about what brings him to the states, it was for tourism. He has been here for about a week and a half so far and its been the BEST. I haven't seen him in 7 months! So you should be okay with him coming to visit.

I believe once you receive your NOA2, your fiance can come and enter the US and have 90 days to get married and your fiance will not be able to leave the U.S. for some time. If you want to go visit Lebanon, I would recommend going before getting married. I don't know if every country has different regulations and whatnot, but I think I was told once you marry your spouse, they cannot leave the country for a certain amount of time.

Sorry if anything I say is slightly or completely off!

There is the Visa Wavier Program and Chile falls under that, so it was just a few days when my fiance was granted it. I just checked to see if Lebanon was a partner with the VWP and it isn't. Perhaps someone on the forum has had success they would like to share about their fiance visiting with a tourist visa, but I don't there should be a problem with it.

Tourist visas can be tricky to get depending on many factors, including location.  And there are always "issues" with people coming from the Middle East, especially under the current administration.

Once your SO is here they can return to Lebanon if they apply for Advance Parole, which gives a non-citizen the right to leave and re-enter the US before their green card is in hand.  I believe you must be married already and have applied for the green card in order to be eligible for AP.
