he'd be moving to the Netherlands where we have a working healthcare system, paid holidays, proper sickdays, insurance that actually covers things and a retirement plan that allows my 85 year old grandmother to enjoy her grandkids in stead of wrapping groceries at Wallmart.

I apologize if your initial message was satire. I sometimes have a hard time distinguishing sarcasm/satire and actual over the top American patriotism.

I actually do love it there, save some minor 'inconveniences' that I mentioned earlier.

I always check what happened in other months before getting upset. If July doesn't show a bunch of approvals, I know even if I look at June or August I won't see a bunch of approvals (this is because I know that day would mean they won't be updating that day)

However, also as I said before, most of these early cases will once be jumped over. So always give yourself a month range.. Getting sad at this stage is pointless, and unnecessary. At least it is unnecessary yet.

Oh no. Im sad. I trusted the process. I got friends here who got to be with their SO within 4 months. And I got to wait more than 6 months now is just sooo disappointing. Suddenly uscis got so slow.  So yes, i get sad. I know it may be pointless now but this is why some already withdraw their applications.

But yes. We just try to remain optimistic regardless.

I'm trying to think this way sometimes... some people withdraw to follow a different route, and maybe for some it was better this way...

but yes for now lets stay optimistic for our sakes and our relationships sakes :)

I love this nation and yet I feel disappointed in the process for our K1, 6 months! and counting! when just last year there was 1 month from NOA1 to NOA2.  6 months or even 4 months is beyond ridiculous! I seen a lot of scans where the petition was withdrawn , we don't know the reason why and could be a many of factors but I feel if a petition was withdrawn it meant their relationship wasn't strong enough at least that's how I want to view it and keeps my relationship with my fiancé strong as I know one day she will be here. But 6 months when I was told it would be 3 at the beginning of this really sucks.

I'm going to be my blunt Dutch self here for a moment, so excuse me for pissing you off in advance. But this is exactly the 'American attitude' us foreigners can't stand. Every time we express any fear or doubts about this very big and life changing decision, in which we bring up some very real issues and concerns, we get slapped in the face by this very list.

My views on your country have changed a great deal since I met my fiancé. There are many things I love about the States and I think it's a wonderful place. But to be honest, if things were different, he'd be moving to the Netherlands where we have a working healthcare system, paid holidays, proper sickdays, insurance that actually covers things and a retirement plan that allows my 85 year old grandmother to enjoy her grandkids in stead of wrapping groceries at Wallmart.

I would move to Egypt in a heartbeat.  I actually hope that we can buy an apartment there by the Red Sea or in New Cairo and retire there in about five years.  I know my fiancé will face challenges here as non-White foreign man in today's political climate.  The reality is, however, that I have a 20 year old girl in college who needs me for advice, an 18 year old son who will be going to college and needing someone to help with editing his homework and a 12 year old son who is still my "baby."  None of them live with me, but we want to take an active role in their lives.  I see my 12 year old every other weekend.  My daughter calls me almost every night.  I go to see my older kids in Massachusetts several times a year when I visit my parents, and I am sure it will be more often when my fiancé comes since both he and my older children speak Arabic.  I lived in Egypt for a year as a kid and I hated coming back here.  Since we filed for the K1 visa, there has started to be political tension in Egypt too.  I don't know how things there will be even weeks from now.  People are not very happy with their president.  I'm scared for my fiancé.  It seems you can't win anywhere.  We are going to make the best of things here because of my children.  We will go to the mountains and see all the things they don't have in Egypt.  I can't wait to show him around!  He's never been here!  Although we hope to have a child, I am 44 and have had my tubes tied.  It would take a real miracle!  So, I am looking forward to family times with all of us together here.  That is the whole reason he's making this sacrifice.  After a few years, we will see where we end up when the kids are more independent.  But, by then, we may be grandparents.

Despite other insistence, I don't think it was. Some of us here are clearly not keen on making friends on an *immigration* forum.

Exactly the reason why I'm moving out there. He is a father of 4, two still live at home. Their mother is deceased so he is all they have. I can't take him away from them. A child needs his dad even way after they're out of the house. At their wedding, the birth of their child, to bail them out when they've been stupid stupid (yay teenagers). And I hope I will be able to give their life a positive influence too. It's been a long time since they had a strong female rolemodel. I pray I am up to that task.
