Why would anyone move a post ..

It's helpful to others coming down the pike to read recent accounts of consulate interviews.

If the joy can be shared while others learn, is that ok?

I would think so...

There was a post of mine that I felt was moved improperly and I simply requested for it to be moved back via a PM. All this public debate over symantics on a "FREE" website is a tab over-the-top. Get with the powers that be and see if there can be an open dialog about the direction of VJ instead of generating a controversal thread that creates finger pointing directed at those who monitor this site. Nowadays, we have all these lone rangers that want to be the "Sheriff!" No pun intended. :P LOL! :P Some of you know that I can NOT cast the first stone because I've had my share of outrageous moments. That I'd rather forget (mind you) but that's another conversation. I was on my cycle. Men have cycle's too so don't laugh.

Anyway, there it is... My five cents. Can somebody please give me back my change?

Cheers!!!

I have obviously missed some stuff around here.

What is "scout" all about in member's groups. And when did all these people become organizers? :P

LisaD,

I agree with you on this. I would just as soon be anonymous, and the label of 'Scout' is not under my name or in my profile by my choice. Being 'labeled' restricts my ability to post as freely as I might like at times.

On the other hand, when VJers don't like the actions taken by organizers and scouts they know - collectively - who to blame.

.....

Now here's my line in the sand. While I like pretty much each and every person who's an 'organizer' or 'scout', I find myself confused by the apparant need to display these 'badges of honor'. We all know certain members always had the capability of moving stuff....and hey, if that's what's needed, then fine! But why title it? I don't say that out of anything but pure curiosity. Does it serve some validation of sorts?

..... The people here are great and whatnot, but forgive me for saying but the power trips are not.

MRS BILLY BONG,

Obtaining a police report is also relevant to K3 visas and to immigrant visas. What's the 1 forum that ties these visas all together, where instructions for obtaining police reports are given to visa applicants, and where police reports are submitted?

Yodrak

Why are topics relevant to a K-1 being moved? Who's doing this? Obtaining a police report is definately relative to the K-1 visa process and two of these threads have been moved. What the heck's going on?

I didnt want a damn pop quiz Yod. Think about this..The same questions come up again and again for EVERY forum on this site. People who post a question about a police report in a K1 forum are obviously working on a K1 visa. You people are going to end up over analyzing these posts to the point of depleting the entire K1 forum..ie. question from a UK resident moves to UK forum...or somewhere in the middle of a relavent post about the G325 for a K1 a person starts talking about AOS and *POOF* it gets moved. This forum was much better before the Move Happy Organizers (my opinion of course) even with the YIPPEES and Man I Miss My Man threads. You're all making more work for yourselves than need be.

I married a Brahmin, so I'm good. :P j/k

But still wondering, what does the "scout" part mean?

Yup, go on and put it up there, is that what it's all about?

lol, just found it funny how many times it was mentioned in this thread alone.

Please ask Ewok to post publically to clarify this. I am with you on this one. I didn't want or ask for the 'job' or the title. I preferred when the title was NOT displayed. I do not think it adds anything to me, my persona here or the information I post. I think it detracts.

Agreed. But if you didn't want the job are you saying it was forced on you?

Yet again, this needs to be taken directly to the one and only person who can and maybe will do something about it: Ewok. It is HIS site, HIS decision how to organize things, HIS call how forums are organized. It is HIS words you mock and I would like to see it discussed directly there. If the site is not to your liking, my liking or anyone else, shop with your feet & go elsewhere. We've already covered that there is more than one way that people like to use immigration sites, and there is one out there to suit every flavor.

As this is a forum which Ewok reads, that's pretty much covered by my posting. I didn't start this thread, but I can certainly contribute to it. Why not tell everyone to stop making threads and take it up with Ewok?

Also, as Ewok has asked people's opinions and seems to be monitoring how this new format is working, it's good feedback for him and I'm sure he's interested in hearing both sides of the coin.

You have used 'without merit' or a variation of that many times this week. Maybe someone replied to you about it or maybe not--that is not MY interpretation (nor have I read that intention from anyone else who advocates the Yippee forum) but by continuing to bang the drum, do you hope it's admitted as fact? Are you not taking the joy from the Yippee threads by creating a new truth about them?

Yes I have. Because that's how the threads are being treated now. One doesn't have to be so literal to expect to see what I said repeated verbatim...but tell me....we're using this 'more useful information readily available' ruler to judge which threads go where when I see them all as being useful and purposeful and not pushed off into other places.

One couple was forward enough to post how they felt about the Yippee threads; who knows how many they do (or do not) speak for? What IF not everyone sees it the way you do? Or the way I do? That's the conversation that was going on with Ewok, so I'll say it again, it's his site and he has got to lay down the way it is. Otherwise, this kerfuffle *will* just recyle, quarter after quarter, or however often it comes up.

That is why it is important to encourage all viewpoints...not question one's motives for being on this site or put it down to 'socializing' because someone offers an opposing opinion. Or by saying 'hey you don't like it, leave' Why should people speak up if they're going to get personally slammed for 'going against the tide?' No, of course it really wasn't a slam...but you took something I said, made it into something else, and then had the nerve to question why I'm here. Why are YOU here? Well, I'd pretty much say that's what brought me...as well as every other person....here. Disagreeing with something doesn't make it otherwise. And isn't the whole point here to be social and develop cameraderie? Or is it the case of 'unless you have a visa pending at some stage, you cannot be social on vj'? If that's the case, then hoo boy!

And yet, you really just wanted to get one more dig in (and have your forgiveness in advance)? What power trips? I actually don't have a dog in this fight--I don't care what forums we have, or which decision is made about moving things. When I have something to add, I throw it in, but I'm not invested in the result.

I don't need 'forgiveness' but it's a figure of speech to sort of cushion what I said because I'm sure some will take it personally when it's just meant to be 'matter of fact'

Lisa, did it ever occur to you that a member designation is just that - a designation?

That in fact it might put the onus on people to be just a little more cautious, and a little less 'power-trippy' than you would have us all believe?

Of course it's a designation...what else could it be? But I think it's part of what's silly and pointless about all these new changes.

Lookit....people wanna be organizers and scouts...that's GREAT. I think the difference in names is silly too...you should all be called mods and that's that. Dressing it up as 'scouts' and 'organizers' just sounds really quite stupid to me. If you can move a thread, you are moderating the discussion, therefore you are a moderator. If it walks like a duck, and talks like it, I'm not going to call it a 'webbed water dweller'....I'll call it a duck.

As to your second point, I disagree. I think it's cause for power trippy, not preventing it.

And isn't the whole point here to be social and develop cameraderie? Or is it the case of 'unless you have a visa pending at some stage, you cannot be social on vj'?

I'd say no....it's not the whole point.

It's a by-product. But not the whole point.

I'd be very careful how you proceed because all this is is a social network of people sharing experiences, nothing more nothing less. Calling it something different could be cause for concern, no?
