At what point are you legally a US citizen? After the interview or after the oath ceremony?

 

At what point can you go to the post office and do a passport application?

September 25th: I-130 Emergency petition filed at US Embassy in Lima.

October 3rd: I-130 Petition Approved.

October 10th: Consular Section sent checklist and notification scheduling my spouse's visa interview for November 13th.

I believe you're not officially a citizen until after the oath ceremony. When my husband did his ceremony there were people outside offering passport applications and voter registration forms. Once you complete the oath ceremony you can go to the post office and apply for a passport, just keep in mind that they do keep your naturalization certificate (they eventually mail it back to you) so I would take it home and make a copy before handing it over

You aren’t a citizen until after your oath.  You can go from the place of oath with your certificate and apply for your passport or register to vote same day.

Finally an update for Phoenix, Arizona Lockbox filers. After waiting for 4 months, I went from In line to interview scheduled! I'm stoked, received an online status change last night. Waiting on the mail for the official interview letter. Hopefully the rest got their updates too, if not soon.

Requesting information about your N-400, Application for Naturalization.

USCIS systems indicate that you appeared for your naturalization interview on 1 December, 2017. If final approval is granted, you will be notified of when and where to report for your naturalization ceremony.

 

but my online for oaths ceremony your application and approved I'm confuse about this reply please help

Cool, San Diego field office is one month faster than mine. Hope I will get my interview soon too.

Unfortunately, we just have to see how it plays out. I might have my interview in June or July, conservatively speaking.
