The filed offices listed on the process times table are Los Angeles Office and Los Angeles Country Office. The former is processing 2/23/2017, the latter, 3/22/2017. I am just conservatively going by Los Angeles field office because that is the only field office that is close to me. 5 more months isn't that far away,  but if my 400 somehow gets processed by LA County office, than it will be 4 more months. How do you find out exactly where you field office is? By your zip code?

Yes, your feild office is selected by your zip code.

I think, wherever you took your biometrics that's your feild office. Also, the processing  time shown in the chart "2/23/2017" for October (it's says on top of the chart) not for January.

So, they might be working on May fillers right now.

In that case, 3 more months.

That's what I think. So, let's just hope to get the interview soon.

Maybe, I am just being conservative, so I won't set myself to disappointment. The office where I did my biometrics is just a biometrics office, It was a big empty office. I think my field office will be at the one where I did my 485/130 interview. About the processing times chart l, it is a bit tricky as to how to read it. You are right about what it says "as of October 31st". Maybe it won't be another 5 months, let's hope!!

My friend and I are SF online filers, we both received interview scheduled notification yesterday on 1/2/2018, but still waiting for the interview notice to be posted on ELIS. Our NOA dates are both around 8/15/2017. So I guess SF are scheduling interviews for August 2017 filers now, at least for online filers.

I received interview scheduled notification today - 01/10/18. When is ur interview? -Sam

2/6 morning. Looks like SF is moving pretty fast on online filers.

why are the offices choosing online fillers over paper fillers?  Shouldn't they work on files based on serial numbers?

It is one of the flaws of USCIS.

I have a theory. I don't think that officers themselves choose to interview online filers first. It may be the case that the interview scheduling for online filers is automated and when an interview slot opens for a candidate whose 5th year green card anniversary has passed or will pass in next couple of weeks the system schedules an interview. For paper filers, an officer probably has to manually schedule an interview after checking the available dates after the fifth anniversary.  As officers have multiple cases to handle, they are not as fast in scheduling the interview as automated computer systems. In fact, even citizenship interview officers are often surprised by how fast the online interview scheduling is as has been corroborated by various online filers and also was my case.

If you observe various cases, there is a definite pattern. Given the same district office and similar circumstances, the fastest interview scheduling is for online filers whose 5th year green card anniversary has either passed by the biometric date or will pass within a couple of weeks. In fact, I saw a case few months ago where an online filers interview was scheduled just a day after biometric.  His biometric was after the 5th year anniversary.

I am of course speculating here after observing various cases. I can be completely wrong.

I don't think it has anything to do with the 5th year green card anniversary, some people file under 3-year rule like me, some people have been holding green card for decades before naturalization. All the interviews should be scheduled automatically by the system based on NOA date, it is not a very complex algorithm. My theory is they have separate slots for online filing cases for some reasons, since not so many people are filing online, the line is moving pretty fast.

Because of the efficiency of electronic filing they get through the system way faster. It's just common sense.

Went to check my case status today and USCIS won't let me into my account, citing either inactivity or trying to log in too many times. It suggested a password reset but then asked me a security question I hadn't chosen so I still can't log in. Great. This whole process is so frustrating. I hope we don't have to wait until June in LA because that would mean June interview/July oath and I will simultaneously have to apply for my UK visa in order to be there by September. Yeesh. Cannot wait to be done.

If we change our address in, say, March will that change the field office we are processed at?

05/14: We were married!!

You don't have to log into your account to check your case status.

June interview doesn't mean July oath, you could wait for another couple of months

I strongly suggest not to change your address, it will definitely not shorten the process
