N-400 August 2017 Filers

Hi online filers, USCIS just updated the ELIS interface. Now the case status "interview scheduled" is gone and back to "we reviewed your biometrics".

With the update to their website, I wonder if they've stopped posting the "interview scheduled" status before the interview actually gets scheduled... Wouldn't surprise me as I'm sure a lot of people wonder why their case sits in "interview scheduled" status for months...

Most likely. "Interview scheduled" was probably just a glitch. Now I don't even know if I am in line for interview,  My USCIS case status still says "Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS".

To be fair, the USCIS case statuses are generally useless. Mine says the same as yours, and they're updated so infrequently. Another advantage to filing online I guess.

 

As for being in line for an interview... I would say your actual status hasn't changed, just that the message was misleading so it was removed. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they go straight from "we reviewed your biometrics" straight to the "read the letter we sent you" message, skipping the "in line" message altogether.

I got a new message: "We transferred your application to another USCIS field office for review" ... "View your letter on your documents tab for an explanation why we transferred your application".

 

Not sure if this is a glitch, or if there's an actual update. Either way, no file has been uploaded to the "documents tab" as of yet.

 

Also, they updated my estimated wait time until interview to 3 months, and the estimated case completion to 5 months. Again, I don't have much trust in those estimates, so we'll see.

That could be a good thing... maybe your field office is overloaded and they sent it to a less busy one?

 

They often upload documents a day or two after the message (my biometrics letter took days).

Same change at my end. I agree that they probably removed it since it was misleading and resulting in unnecessary questions for USCIS.

 

I saw a couple of online filers clarify through the online messaging system that ‘Interview Scheduled’ update merely meant that the online application was transferred to the local office for interview schuduling. Hence, i think the actual status still remains ‘in line for interview’ for those that had the ‘Interview Scheduled’ message disappear.

 

Then again, this coule be wishful thinking on my part.

Has anyone in this forum applied for N400 while I-751 being pending (June / July) and then gotten I-751 approval?  I am aware of only one such person so far from local office of Honolulu?

I placed this question in the June I-751 forum but I haven't received any response except for the one person mentioned above.

I applied for N-400 (Aug 2017 filer) while my I-751 (Sep 2016 filer) was pending at CSC. Luckily my I-751 was approved within one month of filing N-400. But I have seen people who had combo interview for I-751 and N-400 at local field office. So it is very hard to predict whether USCIS will combine these two petitions together or not.

 

My personal opinion is that if your priority is to get US citizenship as early as possible then apply for it even if I-751 is pending provided that you are eligible to do so.

Hi all, I'm a little worried now as my husband got his biometrics done on Sept 8 but we haven't heard anything since and haven't had any online change to his status. It still says the thing about "case was received Aug 11". It sounds like everyone else's status switched fairly quickly after biometrics to at least "biometrics was received" if not "interview scheduled". We also sent in the request for e-notifications along with our N-400 and received a text/email after it was received but nothing since then. Now I'm getting a bit nervous about it...maybe something went wrong and they didn't process his biometrics. We're going to call tomorrow to check on it. Very frustrating.

That is amazing! Nothing short of Miracle. I am July 2016 filer. You  case brings us all hope.

Nothing to be worried about. My biometrics was long before yours and my case hasn’t progressed either. Keep in mind it can sometimes take months to be scheduled for an interview.

Int Ltr: Date you received the official letter in the mail regarding interview.
Interview: Date of your interview.
Oath: Date Oath taken.

I applied for N400 in August 2017 (paper), filed I-751 June 2016. Nothing has happpend to either case so far except biometrics a few weeks after filing each. There are still several other June 2016 I-751 filers waiting for approval, so no idea whether the N400 has held my I-751 up or it's just normal slow processing. I'll let you know if my I-751 gets approved. I filed a service request a few days ago, since it is outside the CSC processing time now, but haven't heard back on that (was given Oct 5th as date to hear by). But I figured it's just one long waiting game, and the sooner I filed the N400 the sooner it will all be done with. And I have the extension stamp now anyway, good for another 10 month. And when I had an info-pass appointment to get the green card extension stamp in July, the officer told me I should file N400 once eligible, so I get in line for that, as Denver has very long N400 processing times (according to their website, currently processing Oct 2016 N400).
