It seems like N-400 online filing is some sort of beta program that USCIS has been trying to roll out since some time. I remember that some months back USCIS suspended its online filing due to some serious error (citizenship had been awarded to some people without thorough background checks).

I noticed that USCIS put a banner of online filing on https://www.uscis.gov/n-400 two weeks ago.  :dancing:  It seems like they recently decided to take it down for some reason.

According to the Ombudsman report on June 29, 2017, USCIS had to re-do the background check for many online applicants due to a system error (not printing out applicants' entire names).    However, they managed to catch all of them before their oath ceremonies according to the report (not sure if it's true or not). https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/publications/DHS Annual Report 2017_0.pdf

That will make sense if that is the case, but if people start noticing, complaints to USCIS will be made and it might create more complications, but if what your saying is true, it might be good in the long run in general, but by the time the system is in generally better, we will all have been naturalized, but thanks for understanding. However I still think if that is the case, then USCIS should encourage applicants to apply on line so they can test it out with a larger pool of applicants to see how it works, and not just implement it quietly, that way, they can achieve fairness and efficiency at the same time. Just my take on it.

The online applications initially get processed faster since they don't have to send their applications by mail.

They also get their biometrics letter online so they can print it out and walk into the field office prior to their scheduled appointment rather than waiting for the biometrics letter to arrive in the mail (but you could still walk into the field office prior to your scheduled appointment too).  :star:

After the biometrics appointment, USCIS doesn't need to send their applications by mail (they do it electrically) to their field office so they'll be placed in line for the interview faster.

However, after that I thought it depended on how busy their field office was when it came to how fast they could get their interview date so I don't know if there is any difference between the online applicants and paper applicants.  :huh2:

If you look at the "N-400 June 2017 Filers" thread, they're all over.  Some paper applicants got their interview dates so fast while some online applicants are still waiting for their interview letters (assuming that their timelines are up to date).

I understand that you're in a hurry because your hubby is in his 80s.    I've decided to send my application by mail since I'm okay my application not being processed that fast as long as I become a US citizen by Nov, 2018 so I can vote.     Fingers crossed!  :star:

I still think that online processing should resulting in less trouble applying, and not jumping ahead of others because adjudication process should be the same for every applicant, it should not be faster and less thorough based on the methods of applying.Applyimg on line is easy and fast, but the adjudicate process should still be based on in order it was revived. Had I known I might get a faster progress, I would have applied online given my spouse's age, but it is too late, I just need to keep waiting and pray my spouse's health will continue in a stable fashion. We will see.

Hi

I am new to this forum,

Do you want me to update the listing or can someone add this to the listing? Not sure how this works.

I am still awaiting I-751 ROC

NOC for I-751 07-01-16 (CSC)

I am hoping the approval will come this month as CSC is currently processing the last week of July 16.

Hi IPV6freely

Yes, I could as I have completed three years' prerequisite condition I could do so. The CSC ROC processing times now are 14 months, so most people who filed for I-751 in July and Aug of '16 have qualified to file N400 while waiting for the ROC for I-751.

Got a notification saying that the interview has been scheduled and will mail the appointment notice

I filed my application on 9/2 at Dallas office and the system says my projection date for the case completion is April 2019. How did you get your interview within 3 months? did you submit a request or something?

Even my case completion date still shows April 2019. But luckily I got the Interview date for October. It was an online submission.
