Online filing gets an the interview date earlier?? Or N400 in general is speeding up?? That is strange, a few bloggers here got the interview date already just 3 months after the filling?? Is that because the people who already got the interview dates signed up for e notification which will tell you progress in detail. I am hoping a lot of us who didn't sign up for e notification have already been scheduled for interview.

I will be very mad if it is confirmed that filing on line will actually speed the process up? Doesn't sound right to me, seriously. If that is the case, that is not right either. Whether you apply on line or mail in should all be treated the same way. Congrats to those who got the interview dates already, but boy, USCIS should have had a responsibility informing people which one is more advantageous. Too late, I already filed mine traditionally, maybe I will get the interview soon, but I have a feeling I am going to be very very mad and there is nothing I can do about it.. OYI:unsure:

Why would you be mad? Is it surprising that filing online would be faster than a paper apppication? That should be pretty obvious.

Thinking its their responsibility to point out the obvious is nonsense.

So you think filing on line get getting ahead of people who file traditionally is alright? I know complaining is not going to do any good, but it is nonsense. If doing so results in the speedy process, then USCIS should encourage people to do the online filing just to be efficient, so people won't have to wait for 10 to 11 months. Online filing is obviously easier, but that alone should not put people who file online ahead of people who file traditionally just because they file online. It is nonsense that you think just because people file online should get an earlier interview than others who file traditionally.

You do not get it, so let's see, if you file 485 and have been waiting for 10 and 11 months and all of a sudden, USCIS has a new method of online 485 filing and the couple who filed 485 online gets an interview date in 3 months while you have been waiting for 10 months, that is just the way it is and it is totally fair? Sorry, that is nonsense

You are talking about fairness with USCIS? They don't have to treat every case the same. Immigration is not a right, it's just a petition. They make the rules and they can change them anytime. Like People from china, India have to wait much longer than those from other countries for green card.

Obviously talking about fairness relating to USCIS is a waste of time, but people are allowed to feel frustrated about certain situations. There is no evidence that I suggest immigration is a right, but i personally think just because an applicant who files online should not result in getting ahead of others, I am allowed to think whether it is fair, right or wrong. But online petition is different from people from different countries, you are equating two different things. Certain countries have certain quota.. that I understand, but online filing should not just put people ahead of others specifically for the interviews, that is just what I think. Sorry, false equivalency you got there, and of course, you filed on line, so you might be getting an interview date in 2 or 3 months, I filed traditionally, I might have to wait for 11 months. If I knew that, i would have filed online.

There's a difference between a method being more efficient and applicants waiting for an interview or being adjudicated in order it was received. You are putting words in my mouth. I wasn't surprised by applying online being more efficient. I was a bit surprised that people like you who apply on line think you deserve to get ahead of others just because you applied online. You obviously don't know the difference. Applying online and mailing in achieves the same goal, and that is get your 400 application to USCIS, online application is obviously fast and easier, but that doesn't mean whoever applied online should get ahead of people who mailed in their applications when it comes to interview scheduling. Now, that is my opinion and I think it is common sense and fairness. Why would USCIS adjudicate N400 for the people who applied ahead of you?? Do you understand?? Oh i guess not, ok. It is ok.

I think CSC is working on July as there have been several mid to late July filers that were approved. I don't know how many 751 pending applicants that have applied 400.

My opinion here about what is happening with N-400 online filers:

It seems like N-400 online filing is some sort of beta program that USCIS has been trying to roll out since some time. I remember that some months back USCIS suspended its online filing due to some serious error (citizenship had been awarded to some people without thorough background checks). Since USCIS heavily invested in online filling system aka ELIS, it is logical for them to iron out all bugs rather than completely scrapping off the system. USCIS is doing beta testing with all these applicants so that they can roll out new system asap. That is why USCIS has not officially announced anything about online filing for N-400.

So now back to your questions about online filers jumping the queue...

Well right now all field offices are already one year behind for N-400 in terms of processing time. So if they also start processing online filers same as paper filers then there is no way of rolling out new ELIS system asap because you are now just sitting duck waiting for regular filers to catch up and doing nothing. Plus there is some good time/effort investment needed to train the officers for the new system. The only way to achieve this goal is by pulling out some online applicants out of queue and process them. This is exactly what you are seeing here...

I can understand your pain about process not being fair here.... But eventually it will make this whole process a lot better hopefully.

That will make sense if that is the case, but if people start noticing, complaints to USCIS will be made and it might create more complications, but if what your saying is true, it might be good in the long run in general, but by the time the system is in generally better, we will all have been naturalized, but thanks for understanding. However I still think if that is the case, then USCIS should encourage applicants to apply on line so they can test it out with a larger pool of applicants to see how it works, and not just implement it quietly, that way, they can achieve fairness and efficiency at the same time. Just my take on it.
