Do you mind sharing your story? Like it was a joint interview with i751? Or you are 5 years rule applicant?

It was just the N-400 interview based on the 3-year-marriage rule. 

My I-751 was approved a few days later. 

The interview was very relaxed and easy. I just brought 2017 IRS transcripts and gave it to the IO. Aside from that, I brought my original papers (specifically lease agreements, insurance and bank statements). I did not brought any personal information such as pictures, past/future travel itineraries or emails. My personal questions were based on the N-400 form. The civic test was extremely simple (6 easy questions).

As far as the English test concerns,  the written portion was for kindergarten kids. "Please write the following: "Colombus Day is in October""

The speaking portion was evaluated by the officer as per my responses to his questionnaire. 

Very smooth process.

2016-10-13 Biometrics appointment

N-400

2017-08-31 Filed N-400 online

2017-08-31 Receipt Notice

September 25th: I-130 Emergency petition filed at US Embassy in Lima.

October 3rd: I-130 Petition Approved.

October 10th: Consular Section sent checklist and notification scheduling my spouse's visa interview for November 13th.

No secret. It may just depend on your field office. Don't know if there is a way to expedite the process.

 

About the passport application, yes most post offices you would have to make an appointment but there may be some places that do walk-ins.

Yes go online to the post office site and make an appointment for your application. There are other sites to get your passport application done that might not require a appointment but the post-office does. Also not every post office offers passport services anymore.

I'm sorry you are still waiting Nisha. So frustrating. I hope your letter is right around the corner. Did you sign up for online status alerts? We got the online status change the other day but only today got the letter in the mail. 

 

Question for everybody: the letter says to bring your appointment notice, your permanent resident card, a state-issued ID like a driver's license, and all valid passports. My husband never got a drivers license or state ID from the DMV because he doesn't drive so we figured he didn't need one. Does the letter mean to bring a driver's license IF you have one? Or like, you must have one and bring it along?

I'll call and ask USCIS tomorrow if the state ID card is a requirement. My husband won't be back until June 3 and his interview is June 23. I'm not sure how long it takes the DMV to process and get us the card...could be tight. I wish it had been more obvious if it was a definite requirement.

I did sign up for online notification. 

I hope I'll get it soon. 

 

 

I think it's important to have the State  ID. I'm not sure, maybe you should apply for it now. If you can get it before the interview, then great. otherwise, you can show them the receipt that it's on the way. 

Also, you should take documents like, those letters the bank sends every months to your address showing your account status. 

I'm trying to say something official that tells that you live in that area.

Thanks Nisha, I'll bring a bank statement. I wouldn't have thought I could apply for a state ID for my husband without him there. He's visiting family in the UK until early June.
