Lucy - I don't know why they don't actually seem to process in the order received.  You might be able to inquire about it either at NSC or with the Obudsman.  Possibly a congressman?  I hope you hear something soon!

Thank you OptimusSpice, I have made several inquires at NSC but their answer is that they are withing the USCIS time frame. I will try the Obudsman, because I do not understand why the jump to other cases without following the order in which cases are received specially is they are the same category.

They do process in the order received but some cases are more scrutinized than others and some are not up to the standard they seem fit for the waiver hence RFE is requested. Then you have to factor human errors and speed due to each applicants case officer. It might also be tricky with Ombudsman helping now due to the new processing time updates which has gone backwards even though they have approved up to Jan. 2017

So far, based on searched of an average of 5,000 case numbers each round before getting locked out for a few days then starting up again at the last searched case:

All cases received has FEB 2017 dates (for this set of data) (Ex: 9 received 601s on 2/21/17, 2 approved 4/27/18 in a 500 case search cycle).

15 Feb 2017 cases with RFEs requested either March or April 2018.

14 Feb 2017 cases Approved in April 2018

Maybe they do process as best as they can in the order received, but dang if the numbers don't support that.  Maybe that's why it's so difficult to actually get real numbers on any of this.  I understand that there is a lot of processing that goes into each case, and that process is different for each case.  I understand that they SAY they process in the order received.  I've searched 39,394 cases - in order via an app that searches in 500 case number blocks.  Every kind of form that NSC processes.  Every case number was LIN.  I found some 601s marked as "received Feb 10, 2017 nearly 15,000 case numbers LATE (as in numbered with cases received on Feb 19, 2017, but "back dated" to 2-10-17 - maybe there was an issue with payment processing or something - IDK).  Anyway - Starting in the first week of Feb, 2017 (2/5/17 and ending 2/27/17 (with 2 March 5th dates received also) -- so covering most of Feb 2017:

39,394 total cases touched/numbered/received/worked in some way by NSC

280 I-601s recieved

28 have had RFEs sent, 21 have been approved (small number of - maybe 6 - on expedite from what I can tell from the dates of approval), about 5 with other processing happened (name update, etc)

so 55-60 cases of 280 in FEB 2017 worked or actively working (RFEs etc)

the Form Data report for the 1st Quarter of the Fiscal year 2018 has been released.  These are for ALL the types of waivers - not just 601s, and the backlog of "pending" rolls forward from who knows how many years on ice.  I don't know if this helps anyone or gives any hope or anything.  It doesn't look so great - except that it's showing true to the reported "normal processing times".  For me, some information is better than no information.  Some bits of pieced together data is better than the "nothing" of the silence and obscurity of it all.  I've also written my Senator - not so much about my case specifically - I know we don't qualify for expedite and so I'm stuck waiting till late this year (at best).  But it seems like there is NO accountability for the NSC regarding the 601s.  So, I've written him.  Maybe something will come of it.  Maybe not.  All I know for sure is that every day is a fresh grief.  Every day the waiting kills me a little more.  But - my fiance is worth it.  So we wait...

Give encouragement to us to fight on dont let it seems stressed

Just an update for us so it might help someone else who is as stressed out as I was waiting for my husband... This'll be my last post as my husband is HOME!

Our initial interview date was in January of 2017. We didn't receive our I-601 approval until March 23, 2018. After receiving that we got a letter from the Mexican consulate saying we needed to make an appointment. Unfortunately the only appointment available was for August... and we were really sad. However, we learned that you can login to the visa website and look for any opening appointments (if someone had cancelled) and we were able to bump it up clear to April. (My best advice is to keep checking daily to see if there are openings for an earlier appointment). We had to send down some more paperwork. We used DHL and paid about $80, but he received it in 4 days, with just enough time before he had to leave for his interview. We had to do another medical exam since he was down there so long but he didn't need any other vaccines. He had his interview, his visa was approved (yay!!) and we were told to go home and his visa was being delivered to the DHL office that we specified in his hometown. He received his visa 4 days later and we booked his flight the next day. He got home this weekend and we are thrilled!!

I wish you all the best of luck. My best advice is to tell you that checking the USCIS website for updates really was only more heartache and headaches... it really didn't do anything for us because the times just kept changing. The only real update we got was when I received his approval letter in the mail. You know... even now it still doesn't show up on the website that he was approved or even that a notice was sent out. So, just an fyi...

So my husband was gone a total of about 17 months. YES it was hard. YES we had to do a lot of sacrifices and there were a lot of sad days... But it is all worth it and you will get there. I know the desperate nights... I know all of it.... We had to move, I had to pick up a second job, we had to scrimp and save just to make a trip to see him for Christmas. But now that it is over, we are so happy and relieved that we did the right thing. Good luck to you all! Dig your heels in and know that there really is a light at the end of the tunnel. God bless you all!!
