Hi,

I am applying for my mother to come to USA as I am an American citizen.

I do not make enough money to "financially support" her.

My wife and I file taxes jointly. My wife makes more than enough to support my mom to come here.

Do I fill out form i-864 and my wife fills out I-864-a?

or do we both fill out I-864 each and my additionally my wife fills out I-864-a?

or can my wife just fill out I-864 and I fill nothing out?

what is the simplest method to prove financial support?

I'm a little confused so I need your help guys!

only one form per person

so you will file the i864 as the petitioner and primary sponsor, your wife will fill out the i864A as your household member

When I fill out the I-864 will i put only my income or our combined income since we file married jointly?

And when my wife completes the I-864-a will she put only her income or our combined income?

We will be submitting tax transcripts and we have always did taxes married and jointly filed.

hi

there's a part where you put your individual income and then it requests to list incomes from i864A and then you add them up, the total has to be the same amount that you declared in your taxes, plus you have to send copies of both of your W2;s

she will also need to send the same as you with financial evidence, plus proof of citizenship or residency. and proof of relationship which can be a copy of your marriage certificate and proof that you both live a the same address
