New to O-1 status. Lots of questions :(

Hi, I just received my O-1 status and I have lots of questions.

 

First off my petitioner/agent is not my actual employer

 

I am a Canadian Sound Engineer and just received my O-1. (Living in Canada). 

 

First question: I understand that I might not necessarily have to pay US taxes because of the US Canadian tax treaty but does not paying US taxes reduce my chances of getting an O-1 again in 3 years (or say extending my O-1 when it's up...) ?

 

How does this treaty work... I still file for american taxes then afterwards try and impose this treaty?

 

Next question: Let's say "Suit case LLC" is who will be paying me in USA... what do I need to get paid from them? Do i need to incorporate my name as a Business in Canada or Sole Proprietorship or can I just work for this LLC as me, myself a person without any sort of business?

 

Next question: I heard something about the W8-BEN that I can only do it if half of my income is from work in Canada with.... this probably won't be the case because I will almost exclusively be working in the USA. Can anyone shed some light on this?

 

Next question for my Canadians: does getting paid almost exclusively in America screw me for stuff like getting loans or a mortgage or what ever in Canada since I won't be able to prove any income from Canadian sources? I'm very young and new to this. There's a lot to figure out. 

 

All I want to do is do this stuff right and legally and save as much money as possible.
