My wife received her 18 month extension letter today! Glad we don't have to deal with trying to make an INFOPASS appointment for the I-551.

Congrats! Was it printed on nice light green paper? I only received the white paper version (i-797C) of 18 month extension, so getting worried if I still have to do InfoPass appointment.

Hi I am an EAC17335***** filer. (Receipt Date 8/31/2017)

Just received my I-797C Notice of Action in mail about 18 month extension, but it's not the original I-797, but a copy on a white paper. I am not using an attorney and wondering if anybody has received the copy but not the original one. Thanks!

- Sharon

I received the original letter.. and I have an attorney. Strange.

Yes, light green as the original 12 month letter.

Did your try calling  USCIS to see why you received the white paper  version?

The first Extension Letter is valid for 12 month from expiration date of your Green Card. The new 18 month Extension Letter gives you an extra 6 months. We received ours 3 months from the original expiration date in November.

I haven't tried calling USCIS since I just received the letter and didn't know if everyone else were getting the copy version as well or it's just me. Thanks for the help guys!
I'll probably call tomorrow... never called USCIS call center before and a little worried if there's going to be a long hold. :(

Hi. Same case here. I just also received my i-797C which is a 2-page additional 6 months extension printed on a white paper without the logo of statue of liberty. I was wondering why it wasn’t printed on a light green thick paper like the i-797 (12 months extension) I didn’t use any lawyer as well. Whatever the reason is, I’m glad that we see some movement with regards to our i-751 unlike few months ago.

I’m planning to renew my DL which will about to expire next month and bring with me i-797C. I heard from a friend who is based in NYC (she has a 1yr stamp on her passport right after she went for an infopass and still waiting for her I-751 results) that DMV in NYC automatically gave her 5yrs validity which they never follow the expiration from her stamp through info pass. I’m not sure if that’s also the case for other states.

I’m hopeful that our 10-year GC will be released sooner than later. Let’s all stay positive and best of luck to everyone.

FORM I-797C AFTER 4/2/2012

vs

FORM I-797C BEFORE 4/2/2012

What Does a Form I-797C look like?

Starting on April 2, 2012, Form I-797C, Notice of Action will:

  • be printed on plain bond paper and
  • include a header stating “THIS NOTICE DOES NOT GRANT ANY IMMIGRATION STATUS OR BENEFIT.”

Previous to April 12, 2012, USCIS printed Form I-797Cs with a DHS seal and on more expensive bond paper. We determined that these notices could be printed on plain bond paper which results in cost savings to the government. In addition, after April 12, 2012, Form I-797Cs will contain the disability accommodation information on the reverse side to reduce paper use. See the press release for more details.

That is so interesting because ours was received on the “expensive bond paper”. Honestly there have been so many discrepancies throughout this whole process I’m not surprised.

Congrats! Awesome. Calling USCIS today because we have several "Received Your Case" notices but not one for local office. Thinking we may have been transferred to CSC but we did not receive a notice to that effect.

That was a glitch. Nothing was transferred, everyone has same message about the transfer and it's all happened in March - April, some ppl have "the transfer" February 28, March 3-5, April 3-5. Most ppl got letter in May with wrong zip code stating that they don't need biometrics to be done. Whoever recently received green card has wrong year "resident since". There are many errors. I recommend everyone to be patient and expect their green cards between March and May next year.
