My wife tried to set up an infopass appointment to get a stamp in her passport, even though her letter doesn't expire until October. She's going to visit family for a couple weeks, and she thought a stamp would be more "secure" than the letter (even though she's used the letter before with no problems). Anyway, she received a call from USCIS today saying she couldn't get a stamp until a month or less before the expiration date of the letter.

This is for the San Francisco USCIS office. Just thought I'd share this info.

Exactly what happened to us but they told us two weeks not a month. This was in Milwaukee, WI.

I (well my husband) has an infopass at NYC on 8/21, apparently they gave one of the July filers a stamp even though their extension expires in October. My husband's extension expires in October too, we'll see if they'll give him a stamp...

You have to be very quick when they release the slots.

There's an entire "very helpful" thread on how to increase your chances of getting an info pass appointment in another section.

Yep, I read it and tried it. I had to use company laptop most of the time and not able to install that app. Desktop at home most of the time is turned off.......plus when everyone uses this trick, no competitive advantage could be gained...I will just take a day off and WALK IN!!!!!!LOL

I highly doubt many people in the general scheme of things are using this method, so of course it is advantageous...you hear an alarm the second an appointment is made available. Probably worth turning the desktop on ;)

Anyone whose field office is Montgomery, Alabama have approved i751?

No! My husbands gc expires in a month with no word at all on his 10yr gc (i751), and I've heard Montgomery field office turns away those with no appts. I'm in Madison county and the Atlanta office takes some from Alabama but not from my zip code.
