You may have your gc by then (fingers crossed) but I read on other forums people renewed their drivers license online paid $50 and didnt have problems- maybe see if your state has that option? It’s interesting to learn different states do things differently. In CT the drivers license isn’t tied to the gc expiration. But we also allow undocumented individuals to get DL as well so maybe we are just more lenient? Good luck and let us know if online option works when the time comes!

Hopefully! There's a cost associated with every renewal too, it's getting on my nerves. I also have to get my vision tested there everytime. I've always been issued a limited term driver's licence. I'll look into this again, but it does say "Limited term driver's license" on my card.

Ugh I felt so uneasy about leaving it. She said the stamp acts as the new green card. I have read on other posts on VJ that it differs office to office, some take it some don’t. She at least let me take a picture of it...just be prepared if you go in for a stamp they may ask for it

I still wouldn't feel at ease without my green card. It has my American name on it. My passport doesn't... 😒

Case transfers from CSC to VSC https://www.uscis.gov/workload-transfers

I dont think that is going to affect much, its still showing 18-20.5 months and if you look nov or dec 2016 filers you will see they are getting their green cards.

What the?!? You still need the green card.for naturalization application. They ask for a copy of it!!!

This is why everyone should apply for their naturalization as soon as their 90 day window opens!

Its highly likely that they will request rfe because its pending so long so good thing is to have everything ready from the filing day until they send one.

btw in 2014 official average was only 5.7 months.

Oh right, I forget that their new year begins on 10/1 after I literally posted that  so yes your receipt would start with 18, so does your receipt say WAC1806XXXXXX? It should be between WAC18062XXXXX and WAC18090XXXXX. So take your first 5 numbers, then after that put 00001, use that to search who has been approved so far on your date.

oh yea, mine is 1806. thank you!!!!

That is why it's probably a good idea for some to wait and change their last name after N400.

My husband made a scene when I told him I'd rather not change my name, so had to come up with a compromise and hyphenate his name to mine.

Yes, pretty sure they CAN figure it out. But legally, two different names is two different people... unless you show them evidence.

Hey everyone,

Been a while since I posted here. I have a question, I was hoping to apply for naturalization as my eligible date was July 31 based on my GC. I recently moved from NY to NJ and am worried if that would be an issue. I see USCIS has the following requirement

"Have lived within the state, or USCIS district with jurisdiction over the applicant’s place of residence, for at least 3 months prior to the date of  filing the application"

We moved in on June 29 and based on the above requirement I won't be able to apply till September 30th. Am I right in assuming this? I also changed my address on the USCIS website and got confirmation on my case status.. Any information would help.. :)
