Good morning - I've been putting together the online application for N400 on USCIS. They have an option to enter paper filings for other case numbers to the account you set up. When I added the I-751 it had a status change I have not seen on the Case Status page. Original Case Status page is still at Receipt Date 8/11. New Account page shows the August date and a second and third receipt dates of Feb 25 and Feb 26 (2018). Has anyone else had this experience?

Thanks -

I-751

Hi everyone,

I also filed I-751 in August 2017. My current online status suggests that the file was received at local office in April, which seems to be experienced by quite a few people. What I would like to ask for your suggestion is something else.

I recently found that I misplaced my GC, which expired in Mid Nov 2017. The extension letter is still in my possession. Now I am in a dilemma as I have an international trip coming along in November this year. Since I filed I-751 in VSC there is a chance I would get an approval in September. But there is also a chance that I don't get an approval before the trip. I also checked the process of I-90 and found that it takes 4-6 months to get an approval because it is not priority. I still might not get a replaced "expired" card before my trip after I file I-90.

It seems that the infopass is inevitable if in Sept I still don't get approval for I-751. May I ask if I have to file I-90 to get my passport stamped during infopass? Should I wait till the end of September to schedule an infopass? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks much,

LY

Hi,

It's a tough call. If you lose your GC you are supposed to file the I-90 to get a replacement, even if it's expired. If you try to get the I-551 stamp you're supposed to have your physical GC with you along with the letter. There is also the chance you get the approval and have your new GC before you travel, but betting on that is risky. I understand the hesitation since the fee for the I-90 is something like $455, but I'm sure if you wait to go get your stamp to ask they will most likely tell you to file the I-90. They may not even give you the stamp if you don't have the GC. Try searching the forum to see if someone else had this issue, or make a post outside of this topic in the main forum.

If I (well really my husband) were in this situation I would wait it out until the end of October, if no approval by then I would file the I-90, then take that NOA to the infopass to get your stamp. There's the chance you get the approval right after filing the I-90, that would be my luck for sure. But it's better to be on the safe side.

Thanks for your reply. I would definitely bet on Sept approval of I-751. Key is to file I-90 at the right time, not too early and not too late......lol. Your husband is lucky. My wife would rather paint than showing remote interest in my visajourney.

A few have been approved, if you download the USCIS Case Tracker app you can see them. Off the top of my head cases #35, #63, #71, #243, and #270 have been approved.

Edit: That was just for August 1, there are other approvals on other days but I only track August 1 because my NOA is that day :)
