Good morning :)

My husband’s Mexican passport is now expired and it is the one that has the US visa page with the first 1551 stamp from when he was approved almost 3 years ago. We have not received any mail with a new 18 month extension letter .

Does he now have to renew his Mexican passport before he goes to get the 1551 stamp for additional one year extension?

Thanks in advance!

Hey. If I were in your position, I will renew my passport before getting the I551 stamp so I will have a valid passport to use.

Thank you! I imagined that would be the case. I’m thankful the Mexican consulate is 20 mins away from us here in Phoenix! We will have to go very soon. :)

Not yet...

Isn't 18 months extension are for new filers? I don't think we will receive them since we have already 12 month extension and we just need to get stamp in passport if it's about to expire.

As far as I recall, the announcement did state that new letters would be sent out to people with pending ROC

Found the announcement:

https://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/update-form-i-797-receipt-notices-form-i-751-and-form-i-829

“Additionally, we will issue new Form I-797 receipt notices to eligible conditional permanent residents whose Form I-751 or I-829 was still pending as of June 11, 2018. Those Form I-797 receipt notices will also serve as evidence of continued status for 18 months past the expiration date on petitioner’s Permanent Resident Card.”

Thank you for the info! Do you know by chance if I won't receive the 18 months extension and I'm traveling to my country in August-September, should I get the stamp? My 12 month extension will expire on November 12. I feel I should be ok since I will enter back to the US in September.

You’ll be fine - they probably wouldn’t give you a stamp yet anyway

Hi Guys, Am new here. I filed i751 on August, 1st 2017 in CSC. Like most of us nothing changed beside transfer to local office and I did my Biometrics in May 2018. Am Filing N400 at the end of this month. Just to let you guys know that there is a page for N400 filers who have i751 pending

. Most of these people are having a combo interviews for both n400 and i751. I think it would be beneficial for all of us who have filed or about to file n400 to either joing this page or create a new one.

I think quite a few of us will be filing the n-400 when our 90 day windows open up.

I have also created an August 2018 filers thread if you happen to be filing in August:

USCIS will no longer send RFE, instead they will just deny the petitions if there is not enough evidence included..
