I became a permanent resident of the United States on December 5th 2015. As of today – September 15th 2017 I still have not received my Green Card, although I did everything right.

I keep paying more and more money for extra forms, I am having difficulties when I travel and I can’t get any answers or help from the USCIS – one lady even hung up on me. 1st fee for the Green Card was $165 and it was paid in November 2015 before I left to the United States. When this card was lost in mail, after a thorough investigation with United States Postal Services and USCIS, I had to pay another fee ($535) for its replacement (Form I-90) even though it was not my fault. I applied for this replacement in November 2016 and until today, that card has not even been issued yet. When I went to talk to our local USCIS office and I asked what will happen if I will not receive this one either the lady just said that I will have to file for another one for even higher fee...

Hmm, you say your green card fee was only $165? Did you follow all these steps? https://www.uscis.gov/i-485

For most categories, current I-485 fees are $1225 and I-130 is $535. I guess its spilt milk but why did you wait a year to apply for a replacement if the first card was lost, and then almost another year to apply for a second replacement? Are you sure they have your correct address? It seems strange that two cards would get lost.

I would contact an attorney if you can afford it, and make an appointment with USCIS as soon as possible, and just do what they say. You don't want to let it lapse and have to go through the whole Adjustment of Status thing again. Best of luck!

 Thank you for your response.

Just to clarify few things - As Frips explained, I was applying through Embassy in my country. Not  only we had to pay all those fees you mentioned and pay a lawyer to make sure everything is done properly, but we also had to be separated for almost a year before all was approved.  Before I left for the U.S. I paid that fee to have my green card delivered to my address. When I got in the U.S. they told me it's going to take about six months and then I should start looking for it.

When it hasn't arrived we did an investigation with the post office and USCIS  which took a very long time, but nobody could tell me where my green card was delivered.  It sure wasn't in our mailbox.  The only proof USCIS has of delivering my Green Card is the ZIP Code where it was delivered... My address was correct and  I confirmed the tracking number with USCIS about three times, but post office had no such number on file and they could not even prove where it was delivered.

Then I applied for the replacement card last November, but that one was not even processed yet so it was not lost, YET...

I was hoping that someone might have had similar experience and could help. It has been a really long process for me.

I will schedule the info pass at the USCIS office and see what they tell me.

Thank you.

Huh...I have no idea how to help you BUT to file ROC you will need a copy of your existing GC,too.....what a mess

That is another issue I have to deal with.. I was hoping that the stamp in my passport (which serves the same purpose as GC in case it was lost) and the letter from the USCIS that says that I contacted them and that I did not receive my GC should hopefully be enough.

But I will sure get an appointment at the office and see what they tell me.

Thank you!

Happily surprised to receive my biometrics letter just 14 days after the receipt date of the original NOA letter and only 17 days after submitting my application! The biometrics appointment is at the end of the month. I'm going to try and go early during the day before my appointment time and hopefully they'll let me just get it over with.

I read on VJ forums that people were getting their GC in a few months some even in a month. Mine for whatever reason took 6 months and it showed up in the mail. I was surprised it wasn't Registered Mail with signature.  Since it was taking long, I  went to my local USCIS office to inquire. Apparently my port of entry office took a moth to mail the package to immigration. The POE would gather a the packages and mail them out, only once a month. The clerk at USCIS couldn't find me in the system. Apparently USCiS had switched to a new system and my file was still in the old system. Short of it, it took a while to make it through the old system and USCIS received my package late.    Also, I personally went to SS office and applied for my card.  Some people on VJ forum had reported that they got their SS card in the mail fairly quickly.

I wish somebody would explain me, how these service centers work, why early August filers and lots of July filers have never gotten their bio appt, and late August and September(nothing personal for those filers, no offense please) already keep getting their letters, I just don't even know what to think, there is no explanation from them. I know there is still a possibility to get a waiver letter for no bio required, but I doubt they gonna waive them for so many filers...

Who knows? Trying to understand is pointless no rhyme or reason in my opinion when dealing with immigration.
