Interview was done today but the officer said they cannot waive I-751 to be able to continue with N-400 interview. He said interview will need to be rescheduled and my husband needs to be there even though I provided him with his military order/change of station.

He asked a bunch of questions about how we met and why we haven't lived together yet, checked each transaction on bank statement. He questioned why my husband doesn't have any transactions on our joint account.

It's very frustrating that they just looked at those statements. I submitted taxes, insurances and pictures. We are just waiting for an update/letter for another interview.

I wonder how do they determine who has transactions on the bank account and who doesn’t 🧐 . All the statements show deposits or withdrawals, or payments. It doesn’t show which card exactly was swiped.

Hi guys I was schedule for an interview. Originally filled jointly (a big package full of evidences was sent) and after getting divorced I sent a letter asking then to change into a waiver application.

Basically I applied on June 2017 for I751, in April 2018, my divorce was final and I sent another package with more evidences.

My case was moved to the local office and in December 2018, I received a notification asking if I would like to change my process to a waiver. I accepted and I replied back, however I forgot to sign the letter.

Two weeks ago I received an appointment for an interview. I got all the docs that I had sent + new ones and I hired an attorney. The interview was smooth, 20 minutes approximately. At the end the officer explained that my case was on his hands because I did not submit enough evidences   and because I forgot to sign the adjustment letter. I sent 2 big packages with more than 150 pages each. He looked into the documents quickly. He was very nice and polite. He told me that he will inform me soon about his decision. my attorney asked how long would that take and he couldn't estimate.

A week has passed and I still haven’t heard anything.

Any thoughts folks?

we are in the same boat it been a month since I did my combo interview with a divorce waiver have not heard anything , may the lord open lol. keep update.

Central Florida, after the interview my attorney asked if there was a timeframe, he said that unfortunately is taking longer than expected.

Can u explain little bit more about interview because i am in the same boat divorce waiver. Filled in auguest 2017 than my case transfered to local office in march 2018 than nothing not at all..

The interview was fast and the officer very nice. Basically they asked me "what is going on ?". I started to explain, the office listened, no interruptions or anything to  make me feel nervous. Few questions from her, basically how we met, when, where I lived when we met. The IO also said that my case was transfer due to lack of documents (even though I sent a lot of financial statements, joint loans, bills, insurances like car and life, pictures and affidavits from our friends)and because I forgot to sign the waiver letter.

So I had my combo interview. The officer was nice and the questions weren't hard. It's good to go with fresh evidence for the I-751, because I think some of it really helped validate our relationship. Do prepare for the civics questions using the booklet because the officer seemed happy to get responses that were straight out of the book. The English test seemed to be really just a literacy test. If you can post here on these forums and make yourself understood, you should be fine!

Thanks!

Yes and yes. I actually got two separate appointment letters, one for the I-751 and the other for the N-400 (I know at least one other person on this forum who got the same). Both had the same place and time. I think the I-751 letter even referenced my N-400 application.

But regardless, I would highly recommend taking your spouse along with you. At worst, they are not needed and it's a wasted PTO day. For the initial green card application years ago, we had an attorney, and this was the parting recommendation we got back then regarding future removal of conditions.

The total interview time was about one hour. The first half was with my spouse and we walked the officer through the new evidence we had brought. The second half was just me for the N-400.

Thanks for info.  I agree, I will go with my wife  even though notice mentioned only n-400 interview.

Hello everyone. On the Sep11th I had my interview with a waiver to remove the condition on my green card. Its was like an hour and a half long (after almost 2 hours waiting)the officer wash really nice, very humanitarian. By the end of the interview he told me that I was approved but he needs first to review and complete the forms.

After 5 days my status update to card on production. And the 23th I receive the welcome and approval letter,  following by the card couple of days after. Finally this chapter is over, I'm very grateful and I hope you'll waiting recieve good news soon.
