I submitted the online request and received the watermarked copy in the mail.

I just noticed that the 18 month extension letter I received was also a courtesy copy. How did you submit a request to USCIS?

I just submitted a case inquiry for "Did Not Receive Notice By Mail". Is that what you did? If yes, what type of notice did you indicate and where did you write that you are missing a watermarked copy?

I indicated type of notice as "Other" since there was no option for a Receipt/Action Notice and just mentioned I am missing watermarked copy of my 18 month extension in the space given for "Last Action Taken on Case"

Thanks!

Starting on April 2, 2012, Form I-797C, Notice of Action will:

  • be printed on plain bond paper and
  • include a header stating “THIS NOTICE DOES NOT GRANT ANY IMMIGRATION STATUS OR BENEFIT.”

Previous to April 12, 2012, USCIS printed Form I-797Cs with a DHS seal and on more expensive bond paper. We determined that these notices could be printed on plain bond paper which results in cost savings to the government. In addition, after April 12, 2012, Form I-797Cs will contain the disability accommodation information on the reverse side to reduce paper use.

Thanks! This is helpful but its just that I saw some folks panicking on other threads if they can travel with the courtesy copy made me think if I should ask for a watermarked one since I am also traveling out of the country in December this year and the way this process is going on I am not sure if I will be approved by then. I am a VSC filer, EAC17332XXXXX

I can always go and get an infopass appointment to be safe.

Yes that is correct. I submitted that and noted in the explanation that I only received the I-797c (courtesy copy) and not the official watermarked version. Only thing I worry about is traveling. A few others did the same request and they received the official notice in the mail a few days later, so hoping we get it too.

I had changed my address and they sent the extension letter to the wrong address. They had combined both addresses lol. But I received the copy and a week and half after I received the copy, I received the actual 18 month extension letter. I didn’t have to submit an inquiry.

The weird thing is I've been signed up since the beginning and they only started to send them last month. This is the 3rd one.

Ok, I got the below response from USCIS. Not sure why they sent the 18 month courtesy letter then.

The status of this service request is:

Please note that the Receipt Notice (Form I-797) for your Petition to Remove the Conditions on Residence (Form I-751) lawfully extends your conditional permanent resident status for 12 months beyond the expiration date shown on your Conditional Permanent Resident Card.  This document confers all of the same benefits you had during the conditional two-year period, including work authorization and travel.   Be advised that if you wish to travel outside the United States during the processing of your Form I-751, you must possess your expired Conditional Permanent Resident Card, passport, and an original I-751 Receipt Notice (Form I-797).

If your 12-month extension expires while your case is still pending, you must schedule an appointment with your local field or district office as indicated below to receive a stamp in your passport to extend your authorization of work and travel for another year.  If you would like to schedule an appointment with your local office, please visit our web site at www.uscis.gov.  You must use the InfoPass Appointment Scheduler prior to visiting your local office.  You will need to bring this letter, a copy or the original receipt notice and your valid passport with you.

We hope this information is helpful to you.

Trying to look for infopass appointments but none available. I guess the key is to keep trying everyday.
