Nice. All the best 😉

So here's the update. I got the stamp, but I have two pieces of advice based on my experience:

1) Go with EVERYTHING. Yes, this probably includes the kitchen sink LOL. Or at least every travel document you have ever had in your entire life.

2) Be calm. You have done everything right, obeyed laws, filed on time, etc. So don't get flustered, explain your situation calmly and clearly. Definitely no point getting upset over anything.

My husband got his I551 stamp so he's good to go for another year. Two days later, we received an RFE. This is our second one for the I751. I'm thinking of including EVERY SINGLE THING since we were married since they've asked for evidence twice now. We're also planning on submitting around 10 affidavits from family and friends since we only did 3 the first time around. What do you all think? We're still doing the usual bank statements, lease, beneficiary info, health/dental information. I don't want to send them duplicate things but I also am not sure what they are expecting to see that they haven't already received.

Any tips on RFE is appreciated!

Did u apply for n400?

Update on my case.

I sent my RFE on April 5th and didn’t get any update on my case like they got my RFE response or not. I was worrying. So today I decided to check my status and it says New Card is mailed to me and it’s a tracking number with it. My email alerts were on but I didn’t get anything. So don’t stress or panic. If post office delivered to right address that means they got it. Thank you so much for everyone shared their experiences.

Yes. He applied when he was eligible in August 2018. He had his interview in February and it didn't particularly go well. The officer said there was loads of mistakes in our paperwork (wouldn't state where) and said we would hear from them in writing. We got the RFE six weeks later, after filing a few inquiries and getting the updated I551 stamp.

Thank you for advice,  Did they take you expired GC or let you keep it?, How long did they extend for?

They let me keep everything I had, and the stamp is valid for one year from the date of my appointment. Definitely a good outcome.

They took my GC but got the stamp.  I also asked a lady who was there for N-400 interview, She filed the application in March 2018. So it took almost 13 months, which means I have 6 more months to go.

I think USCIS taking your green card back is standard procedure. Honestly, I was surprised to get mine back.

6 more months isn't great, but at least there's light at the end of the tunnel for you! 😊 I have a similar timeline, I think.

Hey,

I got some updates from the Congressman's office:

1) The reason it is taking so long is that I filed for citizenship and it now reset the clock on the I-751 (so it's now on my citizenship case's timeline). The USCIS website says the wait time is 6 months for my citizenship case. How unfair!
2) My driver's license is expiring in a week or so. So I continued the conversation with the congressman's office (expressing my frustration) and they offered to make an info pass appointment for me. I sent all the papers 10 days ago and still haven't heard back. I sent them an email today to get an update on the appointment making.

3) I'm seriously considering trying a walk-in appointment at my local USCIS office as I really need the stamp in my passport to renew my driver's license, otherwise a) I'll be driving without a valid license b) I can not get to work. So I might try the "financial loss" emergency reason to get in. Has anyone tried this?

I have been waiting for 22 months (as a ny resident) without submitting my N400. So, I doubt that "resetting the clock" thing exists.

I actually just filed my N400 hoping that it will speed up the process.

I have applied for N400 following the time because I was told it would make things quick. Another lawyer told me that doing such a thing was wrong because it slow the Permanent green card process (a friend of mine *we received temporary green card 2days apart* got the permanent GC delivered by mail way long time ago -January2019- and he did not submitted N400. We both live in Miami, FL (I thought it was the slowest office in the country but I can tell someone else is waiting as well).

I have submitted ROC in August 2017.

Applied for N400 September 2018.

I have been waiting since. I have really no clues of what it is going to happen and how long it will take. A M E N !

Ok, guys so I have something different for you all:

I had my N-400 interview yesterday at 11:00, I had ROC (Sep 2017)  pending but decided to go by myself since my husband couldn't have a day off from job. I was 100% I will get my interview rescheduled because of my ROC, but I was lucky, the officer was lovely and professional. She never mentions anything about my husband not being with me. The first thing she asked was my appointment letter, passport, licenses, and Green card; I told her an official took my green card, and I just had the stamp in my passport, she said to me that was fine. She has my file with her and asked me for all new evidence (I had a lot) then she proceeds to do my test, six questions, read one sentence and write another one.

She asked my husband DOB if we were living together and things about my daughter. Then she went over my application all the Yes and No answers. In the end, she congratulated me and gave me the letter that said I past the test and was recommended for approval.

I just checked my online status, and it said Oath ceremony would be scheduled.

My ROC status and Green card production had not changed.

So I don't know what to think since my I-751 has no change jet.

You don't say what the RFE says, but in case you haven't responded, I suggest you:

  • Assume you sent them nothing before, and prepare a new I-751 package
  • Add a cover letter, and address each of their RFE requests point-by-point, if they asked for specific evidence
  • Add an "Evidence Guide", a table that describes the evidence you submitted and any remarks you want them to note when reviewing each piece of evidence
  • For each evidence you provide, make sure you submit documents stretching from marriage to the present, or provide a short note (in the Evidence Guide) for why not
  • Print your evidence single-sided, not double-sided
  • Use the framework below as a guide (click on the arrow to go directly to the post).

Best of luck!

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to share my update. Went for my interview today. My husband came with me as we anticipated our I751 and N400 to be adjudicated at the same time. We arrived at the office, checked in and waited for our number to be called. We waited around 20 minutes maximum and got called in. As we were walking toward the door, the officer told my husband to wait outside as he wasn't needed. She swore me in and asked for my green card and passport and proceeded to ask me to verify my name, address, phone number, social security number, etc. She informed me that she has to close out my ROC application and asked if I had anything to add to my application. She asked if we traveled and asked for itineraries or boarding passes. I gave her boarding passes for at least 10 trips, our 2018 tax return, 4 years worth of tax transcripts, bank statements, AT&T account information with each line on the account, electricity bill, gas bill and cable bills. She asked about my occupation and asked me questions from my N400. She then told me that she would proceed to the civics test questions. She asked me 4 questions and then asked me to write a response to the last question on the iPad. She then informed me that I passed and that I'd receive a letter within a week with my oath date which would be in June. I had to verify my travel history for the past 3 years, as I travel for work (over 50 flights). She then informed me that when she updated my application with the dates she will update my application and that I will see an update in a couple of days. I thanked her for her time and we left knowing that our journey with the I751 and N400 is complete. We got home and I was notified that my ROC was approved and my card was being produced. I know that I will have to hand it over all my cards at the oath ceremony but I'm very happy that this chapter has ended.

Good luck to everybody that is waiting and I hope you'll receive good news soon.

Seems like there are not enough people left for this thread. Here is my update, My USCIS account estimated completion date changed to 11 months.

11 month was an estimation when I filed N-400 application. :(

Just checked, and they added one month to my estimation. How many months did they add to yours?
