Hi Everyone, I have seen all over this site (and many others) that people who are self-employed just use Line 22 of the 1040 as their income on the i-134 and i-864.  Here are my details:

(1)  In 2014, I was not self-employed 1099 Independent Contractor but have $39 in interest $1072 in capital gains, -$3772 in rental real estate (depreciation expense caused that), and other income of $7500 (lawsuit settlement I think) -- so my line 22 is $4839.  Technically I am unemployed do I still use line 22?

(2)  In 2015, I was self-employed 1099 Independent Contractor with $1794, $10000 in early 401k withdraw, $633 in rental real estate (depreciation doesn't win -- the rent went up) -- so my line 22 is $12427.  Can we really say line 22 with that 401k withdraw, technically it is income in the 2015 year?

(3)  In 2016, I was self-employed 1099 Independent Contractor with $399, $62 om capital gains, $5000 in early 401k withdraw, -$165 in rental real estate (a little more maintenance expenses) -- so my line 22 is $5318.  Again, same as (2) -- the 401k withdraw is the major part of the total income.

(4) My current year is bigger.  I early withdrew my 401k about $60000 to pay off the loan on the rental real estate -- so I could get more income.  The return-on-investment was better... the 401k was only hitting about 2% return because of the market... but the return now is about 38% as rental income... and I can use the income now and through retirement. Can I really say my current annual income is $60000+?  This is what line 22 on my 1040 will look like.  (and I am self-employed this year also)

Can we simply say Line 22 Form 1040?  I do understand I will need to use assets to supplement the income to meet the income requirements -- but since the rental property is paid off, its like $300,000 as an asset.
