Hi all,

First, I would like to say thank you for all the information that are shared and available on this great website.

I have found alot of answers from this forum community just searching thru postings. :)

Ok, so this is my question. I am in a weird situation.

Our case got assigned with a NVC case number and invoice number as well, so my fiance who is in Sydney, Australia, recently did her medical exam and few days ago, I paid for the Visa interview at ustraveldoc website online.

However, every time we tried to call and ask the status of our case, US consulate in Sydney replied us saying they have not received our case file from NVC.

I had to call NVC numerous times to locate our case file. NVC agent told me that our case is a new type of application and that I have to work with US consulate in Sydney directly to process our case for interview. I couldn't understand what that means but NVC assured me that they sent all the documents to Sydney US consulate and NVC cannot do anything for our case anymore.

BUT every time we called consulate in Sydney, their reply has always been "We do not have your case file yet, will contact you once we have your file."

We are worried that US consulate in Sydney is not aware of our "new application type" and just sitting there doing nothing because it took at least 3-4 calls to NVC to locate our case as even NVC agents did not know where our case file was initially.

Once we get our NVC case number and invoice number, that means our case file has been processed and ready for interview review, correct?

Consulate in Sydney also sent my fiance to do medical exam and sent online link to pay for the Visa interview as well but that online system won't let us to select interview date even after we paid and received an receipt.

I am so lost here.

Has anyone had similar issues/problems or heard of such cases before?

Please help!

Talking with the consulate should be sufficient to solve this. Since they are not helping much, try sending an email (so there's documentation of your effort) explaining what info you gathered from nvc and that you already done medical and payed the visa fee. Wait about a week for a response. If they're still not helping or there's no response, contact your local congress person and have them help you out
