Illegal rapes two women, previously deported 20 TIMES

This kind of thing makes me really sick. This guy was in jail in Portland and ICE wanted them to hand him over so they could deport him. But Portland being a Sanctuary City they refused the request and released him the next day. He is a Illegal and a drug addict so why would they want him in their city? 

 

Sergio Jose Martinez, 31, is charged with 13 counts - including burglary, kidnapping, sodomy and sex abuse - in the knife-point attacks on two women in Portland on Monday.

Six months ago, on December 7, jail officials in Portland had Martinez in custody when they received a request from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, asking the jail to notify ICE before his release.

Yet the local officials released him the next day in defiance of the federal immigration detainer, an agency spokeswoman told the Oregonian. 

Oregon has a state law forbidding local law enforcement from using any resources to enforce federal immigration law.

Until the last line of the above (state law), it sounded like an opening to sue the local officials.

But does "using any resources" include picking up an office phone to make a 2-minute call to ICE?

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

- Too tough

- Can't cooperate with Feds, because ______

- The rapist might be part of a family, god forbid breaking that up

- etc

That is too humane and we can't obviously do that. But I like I though and it should be done because it would be helping women everywhere Legal or not.

They are trying to pass the same state wide law here in California but believe it or not it is getting ALOT of backlash from Police Chiefs and Sheriffs throughout the state. So what Sen. Leon thought would be a easy bill to pass has turned out to be one that they are having big issues trying to get through. That's even with a 2/3 filibuster proof Senate that the Dems have.

Not that I'm arguing they shouldn't have handed him over to ICE because I definitely believe they should have. I just can't help but wonder though - even if ICE did deport him for the 21st time, what was then to stop him from coming back in again and then committing the offense?

I agree, this guy was definitely gong to do anything to get back in, but one wonders if he specially choose Portland and Oregon for their sanctuary policies?
