No they opposed it particularly Collins and Murkowski because it was a series of terrible bills crafted without any form of leadership from the White House. These bills were never in committee, in hearings or up for debate on the Senate floor because our President is so desperate for a win.

Kind of like the ACA itself.  Of course with the ACA they put in a lot of stuff they knew people would like that is impossible to end now, so the GOP is left with a Democratic mess on their hands that is unsustainable.  Just go with single payer, kill the health insurance industry (I'd rather see that go than the coal industry), and we will have to live with the longer wait times, and government control over whether you get treatment or not.

At least one thing Trump has been successful at is making the ACA popular. Americans are starting to slowly realize that even though the ACA wasn't ideal it was a far better deal than anything the GOP have come up with.

No, the ACA was debated for over a year, there were over a hundred Republican amendments to the bill to say these GOP bills are like the ACA is false.

But I agree single payer is the only option now and I believe Sanders is crafting legislation to start that process.

Sure, I don't see anything stopping the Republicans from coming up with an emproved bill. Remember how they attacked the Dems relentlessly for not coming up with a better health care bill. Strange how as usual, the Dems are to blame, even when they hold vertually no levers of government. As is typical with members of the Republican party, personal responsibility is good for the goose, but not the gander.

They, the Dems, did not come up with a very good bill, but now they are playing it to be perfect with the help of their media allies.  Since the ACA is so perfect now, why change it at all?

Some Republicans have always been like that in many policies both economic and social over the years.

They like to dictate to people that they can't have this or that except it's ok for them to have it.

I think the majority favor fixing what was broken. I know I have seen plenty of critiques of ACA in the mainstream media.

Donald Trump said he had a plan. A great plan. Really the best plan. Americans would love, love, love it! He lied. Golfer in Cheif can only plan vacations, weekend getaways and profiteering, but can multitask and generate stupid Tweets and offensive statements at the same time.

The fact ACA costs more for the wealthy isn't what needed fixing. Less care, or none (just die already losers) was all the Republicans could come up with in nearly eight years. No better plan as promised by them either.

Fix what is broken? That is like looking at a burned down house with a couple 2x4s still standing and saying "let's fix what's broken" instead of bulldozing the burned out house and building a new one.

Yes, I am with you there. Removing the tax credit, employers get for providing health insurance, would be a good place to start. Better yet, transfer all tax credits to employees, and let people understand how much of their pay and benefits, go towards health insurance. Maybe people might then wake up and figure out how much they are being fleesed by the health insurance industry.

If you followed Trump at all, he favored single payer, but of course Congress (GOPers) don't want that.  The big issue with the ACA is the entire pre-existing conditions and allowing people to opt out, then opt in when they need it.  The only real fix (other than eliminating pre-existing condition item) is single payer and do away with medical insurance as the insurance business cannot survive covering pre-existing conditions, hence the rising ACA premiums since not enough healthy people are willing to pay until they need it.  This would be like buying home or auto insurance after a fire or car accident.  Single payer is great if one is not sick, but be ready to wait if you do get seriously sick.

Your right. What needs fixing is the fact that the Unaffordable Care Act costs a lot more for middle class working Americans while health insurance companies rake in record profits.

At least he can give speeches without a teleprompter. Obama could barely string two words together without one.
