Hey guys,

I got my K1 approved and documents and passport got delivered to my address. I did my visa interview in Sarajevo, BiH. My dad received my documents for me and accidentally opened sealed envelope with documents that was not supposed to be opened in any case. On the instruction sheet that I got with my visa it says in case envelope is opened the visa becomes invalid automatically and I'll need to apply for a new one. Does anyone have any similar experiences and what can I expect to happen?

I wrote an email to the embassy in Sarajevo asking for help and if I can just send an envelope to be resealed.

Thanks for the help!

They can reseal the envelope, this happened so many times before for so many people. Don't worry, you already did the right thing contacting your embassy. So just wait for their instructions and to make your travel plans

best of luck

Thank you very much for your reply. I also read that on the internet forums, I am just worried because as I said I read on their instruction sheet that it is invalid, I'll need to pay again for visa fee, and wait for new visa to be issued.

Hope this is not the case actually and that it can be amended easier way.

It shouldn't be needed, never heard of someone having to pay again, but be prepared just in case since it's in their instructions sheet

It won't immediately invalidate the visa, but you would likely be turned away at POE if you tried to enter with it as-is. The embassy can re-seal it, so just wait for them. You're not the first person this has occurred with. :P

I haven't heard of having to pay the visa fee again either, or even having to issue a new visa for this. But if that's what the instructions say, then be ready. Please post an update with what happens.

When you get this sorted out, would you be so kind and return back here and update us all on how your situation was remedied. Never know, someone else maybe in your situation and need a little help and understanding on what you did and what the outcome was.

Thanks. I hope you get it straightened out and you're on your way soon.

Yeah, I am ready to pay again, I just hope the process of getting new visa won't be as painful and that I wont have to wait for a long time.

Hi guys,

Just to let you all know that I got a response from the embassy today. Luckily I can come to the embassy any time and got my package resealed. Also, it is impossible to send it by mail and get it done, you have to come in person.

Thank you for all of your help and I hope you can get some use out of my situation. DON'T open envelopes that are not supposed to be opened by anyone but officers at the airport :)

Thank once more for everything!

I have heard that people have sent their package back via 2go and then it was returned BUT it took somewhere over two weeks to arrive back to them. This should have been a question you asked at the Embassy when you called. Now you will probably have to make another enquiry. Again, let us know the answer once you find out.

Well, I asked if it is possible to send it anyhow by mail back to them and they explicitly said no, so I think I'll just have to go to the embassy myself and do it.
