Will my Mom's B2 extension affect my sister's B2 application?

So long story short... my Mom is currently here in the US and applied for a B2 visa extension. However, my sister is going to apply for a tourist/ B2 US visa this coming October. Do you guys think my Mom's extension will affect my sister's chance of getting a tourist visa?

Certainly could, why does your mother want an extension. How long does she need to stay for?

Agreed; it's very possible USCIS will think members of your family are trying to immigrate on tourist visas.

Filing for the extension itself won't impact your sister's ability to get a tourist visa. However, both the fact that she is currently in the US and why she is remaining there may raise concerns about if your sister will return home and in a timely manner (i.e. not overstay).

Op I've read some of your other threads and will admit you sound suspicious.  Your mom is extending so that she can look after children and now your sister is coming perhaps for the same thing?  You have also asked about citizenship and petitioning relatives.  Put two and two together...

you also forgot to mention that she was denied not that not that long ago in May

So they are in the US to work then? Since taking care of children is considered working... Not what a tourist visa is for...

In a previous thread it was mentioned that the mothers extension  is for looking after the children.

What I do not understand from most people here is how they are quick to judge when people ask questions that are "out of the norm". I did ask A LOT of questions, but not all of them were for me. I posted topics for friends and for future reference since my husband and I wanted to know how we will approach this whole immigration thing. Not that ANYONE here needs to know, we were considering moving out of the country not a long time ago and wanted to know our option. I really thought that Visa Journey is a place where you can get support and understanding. NOT people shooting every idea down, making it seem like you will just do something NEGATIVE. We are in no way trying to bypass anything here. For all you know, someone else might be in the same position BUT just afraid to ask because of other users speculating a simple scenario.

YES my sister got denied a tourist visa. She wants to get one. WE all want her to get one because the rest of my family, 2 brothers and parents HAVE a tourist visa because in almost 7 years we are going to spend Christmas again.  IS IT WRONG TO TRY?? I just get sick in my stomach knowing that someone here is saying that SHE IS GOING TO WORK like you know us?

My Mom is here. And yes we are still considering extending her b2 visa... WHY? BECAUSE MY HUSBAND AND I WORK AT 5AM and leaves the house at 4AM. WE TRIED EVERY AVENUE TO GET A SITTER, NANNY, OR CAREGIVER FOR MY SON! But where we live, it's going to cost us both our paychecks OR NO ONE JUST WANTS TO WAKE UP AT 4AM. So us trying to get my Mom to stay a little longer is really the best option for us. Quitting our job/sis not the best idea for a family who has bills and all that. So before anyone jumps into stupid conclusions here and start asking questions that shouldn't be,and most of all.. investigate, it would be much appreciated if you do not comment at all. It's really disheartening.

She is working on her tourist visa. She is taking work away from an American. Her working on her tourist visa and that is visa fraud. If immigration finds out, that would be the last time she "visits" you.

Get a nanny. Have you tried care.com?

If your sister got her visitor visa denied on May, she won't be able to get one now. Only 4 months have gone by and I doubt her circumstances have changed a lot since May. Remember that someone's circumstances need to change a great deal for them to even consider granting her avoid, even more to actually grant her the visa.

You have to be careful with your mom's extension because if she overstays she won't be able to come back on a visitor visa ever.

Nothing wrong with her wanting to get a tourist visa. But a previous denial really should be noted as it is relevant - there needs to be a change in circumstances to have a chance again.

That's considered working on a tourist visa. By your own admission, she is replacing the need for a sitter/nanny/caregiver. That's in violation of her visa, and nobody here can condone it according to the VJ TOS. It may put her ability to use any visa at risk in the future.
