Senate Democrats Mark Pryor of Arkansas and Max Baucus of Montana have introduced the "Cyber Safety for Kids Act of 2006," which would require the Department of Commerce to work with ICANN, the Internet's main oversight body, to develop a domain for adults-only content.

I don't see any reason against it.

For starters, it would make it much easier for ISPs or governments to block all pornographic sites.

Also, it would create an entirely new government bureacracy dedicated to enforcing this requirement.

the thing is, it would have to be an international effort, as we can't enforce other country's domains. *shrugs* if there was a way to make it work, sure, go for it... although before i gave my blanket approval of the idea, I'd like to know who is the judge of the sites and what the criteria is to deem them xxx sites.

Unless the computer had some kind of filter to block porno sites, it would just make it easier for kids to find the stuff, just Google .xxx and let breast flow. LOL

True enough, when you go out to look for it.. now-a-days... i get it sent to me, or have links that fon;t go where you want them too, or search words that have been stuck in headers to get hits to porn sites... the list goes on.

Would I support the bill? sure. will it actually go anywhere? doubtful.

But, they did let the adult film get away with prostitution by calling it "Freedom of expression/speech"
