ok sorry to bother you but he just called to make his medical exam appointment and the receptionist told him he doesn't need his police certificates?? now I'm totally confused?

You’re not bothering at all... the police certificates have nothing to do with the medical exam. He needs to bring those (the 2 different ones, 1. Penales and 2. Policiacos)  to the interview at the embassy, they will ask for them when he goes to interview.

Hi everyone! I would like to share our experience. My husband had his appointment 01/23/2018 with embassy. He left to Guatemala 01/10/2018. I didnt go. I stayed wirh the kiddos. He had his medical exam 01/11/2018. Everything went smooth BUT dont waste your time getting vaccines, bloodwork done. They completly ignore it. I work at a Clinic so my DR did me the favor of doing blood titers to see what he was not immune to. He just needed series of Hep B. My husband also did a Quat gold for TB. all for nothing but no big deal because it was all done at my job for free. He paid $375 US dollars  for his physical exam in Guatemala. He stayed at his mom whom lived 4  hrs away while he waited for appoinment. The day before he rented a hotel in front of embassy. On the day of the appointment he said there were a few people who got rejected because they were missing documents. He said dont show thay you are scared or nervous because then start asking you more questions. They only asked him how and when we met. The DOB of our 2 boys. what school and grade my 5 yr was in. He showed them pictures. They asked him when he entered the USA. when dis we marry and the dates. That it. he said the interview was literally like 3  mins long. But he said MAKE sure you know everyone  involved DOB. I dont want to scare ppl because it depends on the agent you see. But just practice all your info and respond with a firm tone. If anyone has any question please let me know

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!  I cannot stop thinking about the interview but I feel so much better now. I’m still waiting for my appointment letter but I want to be prepared just in case. I don’t know what to say when if they ask when we met.. I don’t remember the day just the month (lol)

Hello all, I am having problems registering my husband for a cargo service. It lets me set him up with a log in but then it keeps me at a screen that wont go to any other options?

Also if anyone has the address where he gets his police certificates that would be a great help!

I’m going crazy lol

In terms of cargo, our lawyer did it for us so can’t help with that.

in terms of police certificates, you’re not gonna find an address, stuff doesn’t work like that in Guatemala. But trust me, you’ll find it. There are like 100 Guatemalan ppl doing it every day and literally any person can direct you there.

Hello all, I have a question. It says we need  my husbands birth certificate translated to english, we haven’t met with our attorney yet but will he be able to do that for us?

Thank you

Hello!

our lawyer’s assistant translated ours, but I believe the birth certificate has to either be translated to English or be in the native language of the country the interview is being conducted in (in this case, Spanish). We had ours translated just in case. Your lawyer should know someone who can do it if he is unable.

I did go with my husband.  As far as I’ve heard so far visa journey, most wives do not go with their husbands to Guatemala. I felt like I had to go, because anxiety wise I would go absolutely crazy worrying and wondering where he was if I was in America, but in some ways I wish I hadn’t gone for two reasons. The first is that my stress definitely negatively impacted him and made him a lot more stressed than he would’ve been if I wasn’t there. I basically had to fake it for the last week and act like I wasn’t stressed so he would do well on the interview but it was hard. The second reason is because I  do not mean to insult Guatemala, I love my husbands family very much, but the country itself is very rough. I thought I was mentally prepared because I teach in a very rough neighborhood, but it is nothing compared to Guatemala. The conditions over there are like a Third World country and I had a lot of mental breakdowns over there just from having a hard time adapting to the conditions. But if you have your heart set on going,  then go but just try to mentally prepare yourself before you get there. In terms of a hotel, we stayed at the holiday inn in Guatemala City. It was very reasonably price and had everything we needed and more. For 22 days, it came out to about $2000. The reason we stayed there versus my husband’s family‘s house was a, because my mother-in-law has roosters that #######-a-doodle-doo all night long and I could not sleep and be because we wanted to be within walking distance of the embassy and of the place where he had to get his physical because I didn’t want to have to worry about being late because  The traffic in Guatemala is so bad that to go somewhere that normally takes 10 minutes could easily take three hours, and I’m not exaggerating.

In terms of renap and the police certificates, you will need a car to get to those places. They’re very accessible I’m not sure exactly where they are but if your husband has any family in Guatemala I’m sure they will know, if not just tell him to ask someone over there and they will direct him to the right places. Let me know if you have any other questions at all.

Hello, we leave next week go Guatemala and I was wondering if you needed anything to enter the country besides our passports? The reason I ask is because I have a friend that had to get certain vaccinations to enter another country?

thank you

Hello all I know nobody uses this very much anymore but my husband has his interview this coming Tuesday March 20th. He got his police stuff he needed, which was a real stressful task. The consulate in Chicago gave him a receipt when he went to get his dpi but it didn’t have the dpi number on it so we were scared for a minute and had to go across town to main renap office and they said his dpi is already in the us. Today he had his doctor appointment and went to pick up the results now. Now we just wait until Tuesday and pray all goes well. Guatemala is so very different then America but it is a great experience for myself as well as our children! Thank you everyone for all the support up until this point!!
