Brazil K1 Medical While Menstruating?

Hello, my fiancee has her medical exam a week from Monday and K1 visa interview on the following Tuesday, but she's worried she might be menstruating at that time. It would be really difficult for us to reschedule. Does anyone know if the doctor will be able to complete the exam if she is indeed on her period?

There is nothing in the K1 medical that would matter for that.

The parts of the K1 medical is the same for everyone (except regarding the sputum test for certain parts of the world) - why do you say it depends on the country? There's nothing that is affected by menstruating.

Philippines medical require them not to be on their period, if I'm not mistaken

In that case I stand corrected... I would really like the medical background to that :) I can't see an instance where it would matter... sure your blood values can be on the low side... but that wouldn't be a strange thing... you can give urin and blood samples just fine... sputum, vaccinations and x-ray aren't affected by it... You can even go to your gynecologist while menstruating.. what am I missing?

Yes, I see references on the forum to a few embassies that do explicitly state you can't complete the exam if you're on your period. Brazil doesn't seem to specify this anywhere though.

oooohhh... I just found that they do a pregnancy test too!!?? what in the world?! 

That's the first I've heard of that... and ofc explains that. So basically if the pregnancy test is part of the medical then you can't.. 

 

Side note... anyone know why they would have them do that? :huh:

I agree...I mean I understand it for the sputum test... since it's a medical necessity... I can't understand the pregnancy test thing though..

Yeah, little quirks...  I just didn't want her to travel and show up only to be turned away if they're one of the weird clinics.

ofc not - I get that, I didn't know about the pregnancy test so to me it it was totally foreign that anything would be affected. :)
