Also.. I first applied for K1 (6 months)... then sat on my rear for 3.5-4 months waiting for EAD/AP AOS...  when I started ppl were gettign K1 visas in 3 months... but the March 2016 filers all of the sudden it took a lot longer... I then had an additional wait at the embassy stage... ppl filing at the same time as me.. were already in the states by then... so should I have been upset at the USCIS/embassy for that??  It is what it is.

Don't tell me I can't understand.. that's one thing I'm great at.. idk why you are taking it so personally that I was trying to have you not feel so stressed about it... oh well.. it's your time and your life.

You should be careful when using a broad brush to describe "them".  Perhaps you should review the number of cases received by US IS every month.

Very true. I've worked in several government agencies at both the state and federal level. There's plenty of lazy people. But the holdup is usually processes, not laziness. Many of my former and current coworkers are very hard working. Many times things are still very slow for various other reasons...sometimes with a good reason for being so, and sometimes because workflows seemingly only exist to ensure somebody has/keeps a job.

I absolutely disagree with this. Separation from your loved ones is awful...being a spouse doesn't make it any worse or better. Let's put down the rulers.

I said 70% are lazy and I am being generous.  If you don't believe me, go to a USPS office, then go to a UPS office and see what I am talking about.  Its the same with unionized employees, they tend to be lazier than non unionized.  We can argue all day about this, but those are facts

Not facts at all.

Greetings Everyone,

Exhausted and Discouraged!!

Applied l-30 for my husband  back in November 4th 2016.

It's been 10 months no response. I've called weekly, put in a service inquiry and spoke to TIER 2 supervisors back and forth.

I was told my application is not beyond processing time even though there are processing applications dated November 15, 2026. (I'm in month 10)

I was told that they will respond to my service inquiry by the 28th which is today. NOTHING no one has not been assigned to my husband case. I am an U.S Citzen my husband resides in Haiti.

Concern Wife

Any Suggestions???

I applied on December 26th 2016.  When I applied I was told the normal processing time is 6 months by a USCIS officer.  On April 17th I received a RFE and I responded to it on April 22.  I was told it takes 45 to 60 days for the USCIS to response to my RFE response.  After 60 days I never heard anything so I called.  When I called my case had been with the USCIS for 181 days and 62 days after my RFE response was received and being reviewed.  I spoke to an agent and I was told the normal processing time for my case which is a I-130 is not 9 months and the 60 days to response for the RFE was done by the USCIS.  I asked them how was the response or what was it and the agent told me "We updated your case and told you the response was received and that's the response.

I got my senator involved as well as the congresswoman for my state.  They contacted the USCIS and were told my case was sent to the local USCIS office for review back on June 1st of this year.  I contacted the local USCIS and was told that I have around 150 people in front of me and my case will be scheduled for an interview in 90 to 120 days from July 18th which is the day I went to the local USCIS.  One friend is going through the same thing I am going through.  His case was submitted on December 14, 2016 to the USCIS (12 days before me).  His case was transferred to the local USCIS  in our city on June 14 (13 days after me) and last week, he was given an interview date of August 7 or 8.  My case was expedited when it was with the TSC and his case wasn't expedited.  How can he get an interview when his case was sent to the same local USCIS office 13 days after my case?  How did the USCIS officer I spoke to in the local USCIS office tell me there are 150 people in front of me when my friend got an interview and his case was transferred after me?  The same agent told me an I-130 case can't be expedited, so I showed him proof that my case was expedited when it was at the TSC.  He read it and then said "Here in this office we can't expedite it"  Its a USCIS office so how can the TSC expedite it but not the local office, but that's fine.  When I contacted my senator again, I was told the local office can expedite an I-130 case for emergency or financial hardship and they have had cases expedited in my local USCIS office.  The agent was either lying or he didn't know what he was talking about.

I am going to wait until August 11th and will try to go back on August 14th to see what's going on.  I will schedule interviews every 2 weeks after August 14th until I get an interview

I advise you to contact the senator and congressman/woman for your state for assistance.  Even if it does nothing, at least you are trying.

I realized the system in the USA makes it easy for people the government wants let in and that's their decision.  I just don't like how they make it sound like its a fair system when its not.

Nobody beats us :P our case took a YEAR AND 10 MONTHS to get approved! I've never seen a U.S Citizen's spouse case (I-130) took more than ours.

Guess what? We first talked to USCIS and they told us that our case was within the normal processing time that happened when we passed the first 10 months. And our case then was transferred to a local USCIS office in Minnesota, and we were told that our case was going through background checks, which by the way took 1 year to finish the background checks, it started when our case was in Nebraska and finished after several months from its arrival to the local uscis office, then my wife scheduled an infopass appointment and the lady there told her that they would approve us if we provide more evidence (RFE) we sent them more evidence and they notified us that they received it but again no news nothing from uscis then we decided to live in Jordan and forget about moving to the U.S, she came to Jordan as a visit because she still had her job, when she went back to the U.S, she tried the last hope :o she called her congressman and the congressman talked to the USCIS and the congressman told us to send more photos of us and we will be approved, she did and scheduled another infopass and Hooray the call finally came the senator office called us and told us that we were approved and we found the approval notice in the mail.

We really thought of cancelling everything and just live in Jordan but then it came the approval... but believe me once you get approved everything will go so smooth. in only 2 months our case was completed by the NVC and sent to the embassy.

I wish both of you Good luck. :)

They only do that to Arab and Muslims when they make a case last that long.  I am not saying they do that to all Arab and Muslims, but when a case takes a long time, 99% it's because they are Arab or Muslims.  I am Arabic myself and i know people that too almost 3 years to get approved.  They do that because either the  officer handling the case is racist or for some other reason that's not a good one.  I know a friend that has zero crimes and his record is clean.  He's not even religious and his USCIS process alone too 2 years and 8 months.  His brother's case took 1 year and they married sister's.  The process makes no sense and it's not consistent at all.  You got people here that think the uscis is doing a great job and the people that work there are hard working people and fair.  Maybe if my case got approved in 5 months like some people that i would say the same

Okay... I know you're angry and upset because your case hasn't been approved yet.

I know that people who work at USCIS sometimes make mistakes. but believe me this has nothing to do with being Arab or Muslim, a lot of people who aren't Muslim or Arab are getting stuck in USCIS. my case took almost 2 years and my third cousin got married to a U.S citizen at the year I did and his case took only 5-6 months to get approved. A lot of people from MENA countries and Muslim countries are getting approved within 5 months. and YES I'm angry and upset that our case took almost 2 years and most people who filed i-130 at the time I did are already in the U.S now with their spouses. but believe me this has nothing to do with religion or race.

Just check if your case is in background checks (security checks), if not, you're fine. :)

My cousin got married and in 7 months his wife didn't the interview and got approved.  I know some Arab or Muslims get approved in a short period of time, but i said when there is a delay most likely it's because they are Arab and or Muslim.  Even the senator's immigration clerk whose job is only immigration told me this is what she sees.

Even if i call and ask if my case is in background check, i wouldn't believe what they tell me because they lie.  When i called the 1800 USCIS number in July they told me my case still being reviewed at the tsc.  3 days later i got the senator's clerk involved and they told her my case was transferred to the local uscis office back on June 1st.  I called a week later the 1800 and they told me it's at tsc being processed so i told them the senator's clerk made a request last week and she was told it got transferred.  They put me on hold and came back on and told me yes it got transferred.  I go to the local office and they tell me I-130 cases can't be expedited, so i show them proof that my I-130 case was expedited.  I showed them an email that was sent to my congresswoman clerk from the tsc saying it's approved for the expedite and the guy tells me "hummm, i didn't know it can be expedited."  Then he tells me there are 150 people in front of me to be interviewed.  A well later my friends brother whose case was transferred to the same local office 13 days after me gets an interview.  I will wait another 1.5 to 2 weeks, them i will schedule an infopass appointment and try to see what's going on
