My fiancee just entered the county from Vietnam on a K-1 Visa.  We went to get a social security card and they informed us the first name and the middle name are reversed on the i-94 and the visa.  So for example the passport in Vietnam says middle name then first name.  So that's how us customs and border protection put on the i-94 and how the dept of state put it on the visa.  Has anyone else from Vietnam encountered this problem?  Thank you for any replies!

I had this issue when my wife came (fiancee at that time) but they reversed the 2 middle names. Almost always you will see last name, middle name, first name on any paperwork from Vietnam. Because my wife has two middle names (Thi Hong) the government reversed them and that what Homeland used. I tried fighting it but finally said to myself-who cares. When my wife and I got married she changed her name to:  her first name. her last name, my last name on the marriage certificate and now her new SS card is good.

brr5 is correct - who cares? It doesn't matter what the VN passport or any other document says. You can get whatever order of the VN name you want. My VN wife entered on a K-1 and one of our first stops was the Social Security office. They asked her "How do you want your name to read on your Social Security card?" They know - or should know - that VN names are mixed up. And you can change the card after you get married. It's not a big deal.
