I'm asking for a friend. She is US citizen her fiancée lives in Ghana. She has visited him 2 twice in last 2 years they filed for K1 visa got approved, He got package 3 they paid visa fee scheduled the interview. He went for his interview on July 18th, 2017. He sat in the office for 4 hours when the CO told him something was wrong with his file at NVC and they were sorry for inconvenience they would call him to reschedule his interview following week. Well they never called him so he went back Tuesday and they told him the problem had been corrected and they would call him for his interview. They have tried calling embassy all they get is recording and emailing them to see when they would rescheduled. he has inquired from other friends they have never heard of this. They are afraid his police report will expire because he had to have them translated and it will be more money they don't have. has anyone ever heard of you going for interview and not being able to submit documents. I told my friend I would post here and find out what they can do.

what she can do is that keep on following up and wait. And regarding the police certificate, there is nothing they can do except to go through the process of application the police certificate and translated it again (when the existing one is expired), even it will cost more. Good luck to your friends!

Police Certificate usually is valid for 1 year from the date of issuance. I would advice for you to email the USEM regarding your PC and inform them of the validity.

Unfortunately, Ghanaian police certificate is only valid for 6 months upon issuance date.

If the police certificate expires by the time your friend's fiance goes for a visa interview, the interview will still happen but the CO will probably issue him a 221g asking for a new and valid police certificate. Upon receiving the 221g, he should apply for a new one immediately and get it translated a.s.a.p in order for him to submit them to the embassy for processing continuation prior to the visa issuance. That is if they require a new cert and/or planning to approve his visa. He pretty much has no choice if they ask for it and will have to figure out how to pay for a new police certificare application.
