Report: Sarah Palin to Subpoena NYT Editors & Reporters, Demand ‘Every Internal Communication’ About Her Since 2011

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s lawyers will reportedly subpoena nearly two dozen New York Times reporters, editors, and employees and ask the Times to produce “every internal communication it has had about her since 2011” for her defamation lawsuit.

 

According to a New York Post report, based on court documents released on Wednesday, the Times’ lawyers whined that Palin’s legal team intends to subpoena “twenty-three non-party current and former Times reporters, editors and other employees” in addition to demanding the internal communications.

Citing the Times’ own articles, Palin’s lawyers argued that the Times knew there was no link between Palin and the Giffords shooting. In addition, Palin’s legal team cited a story written by left-wing Times columnist Charles Blow to show that “there is existing hostility held toward Mrs. Palin” and the Gray Lady knows that “her name and attacks upon her inflame passions and thereby drive viewership and Web clicks to media companies.”

“The Times published the Palin Article with actual knowledge that stories attacking Mrs. Palin inflame passions, which drives viewership and Web clicks,” the complaint read. “Thus, The Times knowingly and voluntarily exploited and retained a benefit conferred by Mrs. Palin, in special circumstances particular to this case in which it would be inequitable for The Times to retain that benefit without paying the value thereof to Mrs. Palin.”

The Times has claimed it made an “honest mistake” when it smeared Palin and its lawyers are asking the court to throw out Palin’s defamation lawsuit.

I like this, and I hope the Times doesn't settle... even if they win the civil case, they will be dragged through the mud and become the story for their fake news.

 

I'm not a fan of Palin whatsoever (never have been) but I hope she bankrupts the Times.

I'm not a big fan of Palin but I'm glad the fake news is being taken to court where they belong. About time the face the consequences for their lies.

Sarah Palin is sort of a political joke, but I am happy to see her taking the NYTimes to task.  In general, the GOP politicos are supposed to just turn the other cheek, but I like that she is pursuing this action.  I could care less what happens to the NYTimes, if it goes under, it will be their own fault.

Times is another situation where some leftist billionaire would just buy it up and eat all the losses that comes with it.

A federal judge has dismissed Sarah Palin's defamation lawsuit against The New York Times. U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff said the suit, which alleged the newspaper's editorial board maliciously linked the former Alaska governor to a 2011 mass shooting, failed to put forward plausible evidence of that malice.

Each item put forward by Palin's legal team as proof of the Times' intent and ill will "consists either of gross supposition or of evidence so weak that, even together, these items cannot support the high degree of particularized proof" needed to proceed with the case, Rakoff said in his ruling Wednesday.
