Also, on the subject about fat, when deciding if you want to trust the US government on how much carbs you should intake.. look here, and I'd suggest for fun to put your info in and check carbs and protein:

The fact that any US government website says that a 5ft11 (180cm) male with low active lifestyle (between 6000-15000 steps a day on average) should be consuming 300-450g of carbs is absolutely insane. Consuming that much would completely overload my liver, making it push significant amounts of converted fatty acids throughout my body, and cause me to become extremely obese, never mind destroy my liver in the process. Likewise, there's no way in hell I could maintain 170 pounds consuming 3,000 calories a day with a low active lifestyle. That this is said on this very site to be used by healthcare professionals.. is extremely concerning and makes me wonder who's deciding this sort of BS.

lol...thankfully I've always had fairly decent metabolism. Also I wouldn't really call an average of around 10,000 steps give or take "low active"...unless you're a runner or someone who actually has the time to go out and walk for an hour or two a day that's a good amount of "movement" for most people. We probably wouldn't see so many obese people if some of them got that many steps in every day. I have a fitbit mainly so I can monitor that and make sure I get enough steps in since I don't have the time to treadmill it or anything like that.

I try to get myself a fair amount of steps each day.  I can usually get about 5,000 steps on the elliptical in about 35 minutes, and I try to get out for a run with the dog for another 5k if possible.  When I don't have the time to do that, I walk the building I work in while on a conference call.

I think a dog is a good way to push people to exercise more. Get a breed that will bug the ever living **** out of them unless they take it out for a regular walk.
