Im afraid I have no imagination and am seeking advice on what to do for my husbands 40th birthday coming up in May. I want to make it special as it is his 40th. Only idea I could come up with was going to San Francisco for the weekend, we live in San Diego, but it would cost around $600 for flights and a hotel. Anyone got any cool suggestions? :help:

You know, my husband told me that anytime i don't know what to get him, i should just wrap myself like a present for him.. And in fact, he got me some nice red ribbon one day from hallmark for me to use whenever im clueless as to what to get him.

If those are the lines you are looking on (hotel and away) look to see if there are any neat places within driving distance to stay at. For example, for our first anniversary I took my hubby to a state park.. there was a lodge there (hotel) and fine dining. It was much cheaper than flying somewhere and then staying in a hotel, but it was far enough away (1 hour drive) that it was a getaway.

That was for you. Husband would have been happy with a six pack of favorite beer and sex on the living room floor. LOL

No, actually he wanted to go there. It was eagle watching season, and we got to see a few (which he had never seen before). He enjoyed that much more than staying at home. Ask him.

That I think is a good idea Lady, would probably save you a load of money and at the end of the day would be just great if you want to be "alone" or is he the type who would love a "surprise " party

Would Mexico be any cheaper?

Good Idea. Have you looked at Calafia? There is a hotel right above the beach there, very romantic!

Darn, shows how little I know. High of 73 and low of 54 in May? And here I assumed Mexico = hot! :P That weather sucks, especially if you have to pay for it haha.
