really...

yeah right "send it to us as soon as oyu have it to make sure were gonna let it sit on the desk"...

whatever

I thought it was easier for them to chage the status then to make a complete decision on a case....oh well

It didn't take that long for me, because I kept calling and calling them to get the answer on my claim status.. but I had faxed (I also sent a copy of it via mail to be double sure) my EAD and then about 2 or 3 days later I got the moola..

I think calling 1x per week to ask helps.. you feel like a tool saying "where's my money"? but honestly - it IS your money and it's not rocket science to look at a fax and then authorize the computer to start spitting out payments again! AND it's not like they will pay you interest on the money when they take 2 months to pay it to you

I haven't even been approved (K1) and I'm my mind is so boggled on all this.

I have stat days and an ann. day. Union rep told me to hold and use those at the end of Sept, and the first week of Oct. I'm hopefully leaving Oct 8.

I think I understand I have to apply within 14 days of leaving my employment. The problem is going to be, we're paid in 2 week periods, I will not even get my last pay in the bank until the 19th, then they still will have to mail my ROE. Previous experience mailing to the AR address is approx 2 weeks. So that won't even arrive until last week Oct or Nov. Will EI call or will I have to call and explain why I haven't submitted them?

And yes I have read everything, OMG....

I left my employ in Feb. and filed for EI in June. I believe the only thing with filing late is you loose weeks eligibility. They told me if I'm approved I'm only entitled to 22 weeks

I don't know about you. But my company told me that as per employment rules, as I was leaving on April 12th, they paid me everything INCLUDING last 2 weeks of work,, my 4 days of work that were due on May 3rd and my 3 weeks of vacations ALL on April 19 th. And they sent me all my last paystubs along with my ROE on the week after. She said they ahd to do this because per law they have to pay the total amount that is due to the employee that is leaving within 2 weeks of termination of the position. So it sucked big time cause they took a huge chunk out of taxes

Yeah that would suck by doing that they gave the Gov. some of your free time pay. When I left they owed me my 2 weeks pay ( paid bi-weekly ) and 1 weeks vacation on the sceduled pay periods. They gave me the option , everything I was owed in one pay or to just take it when the pay days arrived as scheduled. I opted for the regular pay period.

Guess it depends on who is doing the payroll

I asked specifically for that too, since I kept my canadian account opened and all, but the HUman resources guy is in a$$hole anyways....the same that f***ed up one of my pay raise 3 years ago by making a mistake of 2000$ more a year on the letter, to finally tell me he was sorry it was a mistake 1 month later when I got my first modified paystub.....

I just checked the pay schedule. If I have the stats the first week of October. That week is the pay week. So they can only do the few stats and my vacation pay on the next pay. (Oct 19) Hopefully they will issue it sooner.

Thanks :)

edit: didn't make any sense to me when I read my own post.

Update update!

Well just tought I might share..

Quick resume: My K-1 expired on July 14th 2007and I received my EAD dated August 7th 2007. I faxed them back my EAD on August 17th and I gave them a call last friday because my status online was still showing online for the period ending July 21st.

They called me back yesterday and here's how it goes. This time I talked with Donna that had a talk with Melanie previously. I told her about not receiving cards anymore (again) and that I wanted to make sure they had receive my fax to reinstate my claim. Well first off she said they got the fax and they wanted to let me know I misread my EAD cause its written 08-07-2007 on it, thus it was valid from July 8th ...:lol::lol: So of course I had to explain to them that it was written the US way and it was really August 7th ( I thought they would know that being the out of state claim unit). So we filed the cards on the phone and I said I wasn't eligible from July 14th to August 7th, and now I was eligible and I wanted to reinstate my claim. That's when it got weird.

She said that in fact, in my situation there is a grace period. Means that my benefits didn't stop and that I was eligible the whole period. She then asked me if that was why I said I wasnt eligible and I said yes. She then put me on hold to go talk to Melanie again, and when she cam back she confirmed again that I was eligible the whole time... She said that for people like me, AKA I left my job in Canada to move to the US, move immediately, filed for EAD/GC immediately, etc that there was a grace period ( she didn't tell me how long it could be ) and that I was eligible to receive my benefits the whole time....

So tomorrow I will get my second deposit, totalizing the period from July 16th to August 26th....

So I really don't know what it is all about with everybody else, but I did ask her 3 times if she was sure about that, cause of course I don't want to have to reimburse benefits that were paid by mistake. I told her I have been informed that it would stop in the gap between my K-1 and my EAD, even Patty told me to make sure I was faxing them my EAD as soon as I was getting it, thus she didn't mention if my benefits would stop or not....

So anyways, I am happy cause that's money I wasnt expecting of course and I thought it would take longer than that
