Alright here we go again. I checked their website this morning, saying its gonna be paid tomorrow and all the periods from April 15 to July 14 are covered.

Now, my husband picked up the mail at lunch tme and i Received 3 enveloppes from them. I thought it might be some deposit statement or something like that. no...

They sent me back ALL the cards for every week since April 15th to July 21st........

I have filled all those cards already, except that in the beginning it was starting at April 29 ( I applied online on May 2) and I jsut mailed the card ending July 14 yesterday because I received it saturday.

So it makes no sense. And all the letters with these cards got no messages on it and they are all dates July 19, which is the day of my phone call with Patty.

Do I refilll, sign and send all of them again??:help: I guess it cant hurt, but I dont understand..

So I signed them all and included a little note saying that I'd already filed those cards but I was resigning them today since they sent it to me...

AND......as of July 25 I just checked my bank account and I got my 5 deposits !!!:dance::dance:

Let's go shopping

 Ok in fact I hate shopping, but it feels damn good!

I just dont get how you keep changing the subject here...

Her question was about the EI, the EI question we answered, the EI question you turned wrong saying she couldnt. Yes she can.

I got onto her canadian job thing because you brought up oh now she can work. Well this wasnt even the question in the beginning. Of course she cant work in the US, but technically since her address is IN the US i dont think she can work for a Canadian employer either.

And no the 2 cases arent related what so ever. I dont see how this EI issue is related with her asking if she can work or not.

Keisha can claim EI, thats all she wanted to know and you kept turning the subject on how she cant, etc, etc. Her question about working in Canada or not is already being debated in another thread, so im done with it.

I just wanted to add that EI is looking for "work authorization". Technically speaking K-1 is work authorized as per the Social Security Office (which is why the document is sent with the EI application that Memphy's referenced). There is a catch though - employers are not allowed to hire K-1's without EAD legally. In my mind it's a problem with EI - I am work authorized (which is what EI requires)- but no employer's going to take the chance and hire me.

I also found this Q&A at Social Security that I never saw before -

If she waits until she gets her EAD she will be ineligible for EI benefits because she will have filed too late. You have to apply as soon as you've left your employ. Do not even wait for the ROE if you don't have it yet. You can send it in later. As indicated, there is a link to the "work authorization on a K-1" pages that you should photocopy and mail in to EI highlighting the applicable area. This will assist them if they have any questions about your ability to work without an work authorization stamp, which you don't need to apply for EI.

Just remember, after your visa expires, until you get your EAD or Green card, you will not be able to collect any benefits, however you will start up again, after you get work authorization and send it to EI. You'll also still have to fill out cards.

So they finally got around to re-instating my EI yesterday...but I'm a little worried.

It stated that such and such amount of money "was or will be deposited into your account on July 24, 2007"

I have yet to receive that deposit, and I have never had a problem with money going into my account. When it says it's going to be deposited, it's always been there that day.

Should I be worried? Or call?

mmm and they have direct deposit the funds before?

I would look at your profile on Service Canada - and make sure that nothings changed for some silly reason. Are you checking your online statement? Could your bank just be slow on the update on their website? Sometimes it takes a couple of days to get some details on my account.

If either of those are not the issue, I'd call them.. Don't give EI very long of a leash.. it's always a recipe for disaster!

I just received a call from Melanie at EI in Belleville. She informed me that the paperwork they sent to me here in Spokane has been returned as "undeliverable address". She confirmed the address with me and it's correct. Anybody have this problem before with receiving mail?

Are you in an apartment? Note that Canada Post and USPS treats addresses differently.

Say you live at 123 Main Street, Apartment 5.

Canada Post short forms that to: 5-123 Main Street

USPS short forms that to: 123-5 Main Street

USPS will return 5-123 Main Street as undeliverable UNLESS there is an apartment building at 5 main street with apartment 123... (and the mailman actually cares whose mail goes in which box).

This could be the problem. Call them up again and verify the way they show apartment numbers (if you're in an apartment).

Well...actually I had just the other day. I noticed that I had not filled out any cards since 12 June I think? Anyway, on line it says...last processed date 29 June 2007. I hadn't received any cards for July and it's almost the end of the month. I called Bellville, and they said none had been returned undeliverable, and I should have had cards....anyway, they took the information over the phone from me, and said I'm up to date now until the 18th of July. I'm not getting any money right now...but have my AOS interview next month, so I guess my claim will restart then.

I had a message yesterday saying that "was or will be deposited into your account on July 25" and at 12:30 am it was in there....SO I would definitely make sure your information is correct for your account or call them up.

I just received a call from Melanie at EI in Belleville. She informed me that the paperwork they sent to me here in Spokane has been returned as "undeliverable address". She confirmed the address with me and it's correct. Anybody have this problem before with receiving mail?

I had the Address problem as Misa stated , had to make them write the Address first and then the apartment number.

Another thing is the mailman told us if the name on the enveloppe doesnt match the name in the mailbox they return it. I had my EI in my maiden and my mailbox in my married name. So I added my maiden name in the mailbox and called EI to add my married name on the enveloppe. So now both show both names and the address is correct, so they sent me a bunch of cards.

Carla you might want to call them and file your cards on the phone because if its not done within 3 weeks of the last date it can cause delays in your claim. I did this because of all the undeliverable cards and everything worked alright  They also sent me the cards which I completed anyways even though my case was up to date online.

Yeah, the problem is that a lot of government agencies have the addresses predefined to print out a certain way to Canada Post standards which is totally opposite than USPS standards!

I only figured it out because my husband kept writing and referring to our apartment as 123-5 Main Street and I'm like, "#######? Why are you doing address dash apartment number?" :P

Everything is ok with the deposit now :)

I went anddouble checked to make sure that my direct deposit info was correct (which it was) and I thought, I'll give them until tomorrow.

It was there this morning. I guess just a lag. My money has always shown up in my bank account when it was supposed to, so this just worried me a little bit.

All is well.
