im am doing applications for petco online right now and honestly I dont like it.

It asks for SSN as a required field. I don't know how it works here in the US, I see the SSN is used for many more things than in Canada, but I don't like to give it without a good reason. I don't think a job application is one and it should be given only if an employer has the intention of hiring me.

Second, I thought I could just attach my resume to it, but its asking for EVERY single phone number, address, name and even earnings!!!!! LIke ####### that's personnal and they dont need to know how much I was making to hire me. And its all required fields. Unless I just put 0000000 for whatever number they ask and add in the comments that my references are available upon request.

I think im just gonna post my resume by snail mail.....

-_-

Yep it is REDICULOUS what Americans accept/supply when applying for things.. Those questions are NOT necessary and totally invasive.. I think your resume would be better served by snail mail so you can control what information they have.. there is no reason they need your SSN at this stage in the process.. CRAZY..

I know at work here they need the Owner's SSN for every Credit application.. I think that's totally messed up.. CRAZY

Holy cow. Yep. I am silly.

Thanks guy sometimes I feel like you are my inner voice to remind me to do stuff....

I checked only my bank account since yesterday but never thought to check my actual status on service canada website.....

We have processed your report for the period ending Saturday July 14, 2007 and a payment totalling $XXX.00 was or will be deposited to your account on July 25, 2007

Additional payments have been issued on the same day.

Your next report for the 2 week period beginning Sunday, July 15 can be mailed on Friday, July 27. It is important to file your next report within 3 weeks of this date otherwise loss of benefits may occur.

So its gonna be deposit TOMORROW!!!:dance::dance:

And they show all the amounts since April ( well with the first periods showing 0$ of course) Is it accurate to say that the money in my pocket now is about 63% of the amount I had in my pocket when I was working??

ANyhow thats gonna feel good

And just like Emancipation said 3 months ago, don't desperate! Its worthed the wait ^_^

Alright here we go again. I checked their website this morning, saying its gonna be paid tomorrow and all the periods from April 15 to July 14 are covered.

Now, my husband picked up the mail at lunch tme and i Received 3 enveloppes from them. I thought it might be some deposit statement or something like that. no...

They sent me back ALL the cards for every week since April 15th to July 21st........

I have filled all those cards already, except that in the beginning it was starting at April 29 ( I applied online on May 2) and I jsut mailed the card ending July 14 yesterday because I received it saturday.

So it makes no sense. And all the letters with these cards got no messages on it and they are all dates July 19, which is the day of my phone call with Patty.

Do I refilll, sign and send all of them again??:help: I guess it cant hurt, but I dont understand..

Sorry guys if I am totally ignorant on that question. Paid my EI for 3 years in Canada, never used it. I've just found out that I can't work even remotely for my Canadian clients from here until I get my EAD, so I noticed this thread.

Can you please enlighten me a little bit?

So I can apply for EI in Canada even if I moved to the US as a fiancee? I came on K1 and it sucks not to be able to work and put all the financial load on my honey's shoulders. and I have a son to support as well.

Actually she can apply now because she is a K-1. She is eligible for work for the duration of the K-1 (90 days) and then she has to wait to receive her EAD or GC to keep receiving more benefits until she finds a job.

Keisha you can read this same thread in the first pages there is a lot of informations in regards to it.

From another thread...

Just called USCIS customer service....I can't do anything until I get my EAD.....even self-employed, even on the phone..NOTHING...that sucks. And this is so stupid.

She still has to have EAD to work as per USCIS and from what I understand you have to get an EAD stamp while activating your K1 visa to be work authorized and simply having a K1 visa does not entitle you to work authorization. So going back to the EI, you need to be work authorized in the US to be able to claim Canadian EI.

Please Lance dont give advice on K-1 if you don't know about it. K-1 are eligible for work no matter what, the only thing is they need the stamp in order to be HIRED by the employer, but by the law they are work eligible. Read the first pages from this thread there is the link that explains this.

Me and Emancipation and others came here as K-1 and we are receiving EI benefits. K-3 are different in that matters but Keisha is on a K-1 so she can apply.

If you have a K-1 and are making work applications then you are entitled to receive EI benefits. But again read the beginning of this thread and I even asked myself the question in May and talked on the phone to a reprensentative of the out of state claims unit.

I guess my advise only pertains to K3 visas in that case.

Keisha, from the advise given by others you can continue working for your Canadian employer.

Ok you really dont get it. Being work eligible doesnt mean YES she can work. She cant work without the EAD, doesnt mean she cant receive EI without EAD.

Working and receiving EI benefits are 2 different things please dont mix them up. Here is it a thread for EI anyways so when I say Yes she is eligible dont come here with answers saying "oh well then everybody is telling you you can work" That is not what I said.

I said she IS work eligible, but the employer cant legally HIRE her because her SSN card would show that she needs DHS authorization which she hasnt.

Here's the link that says K-1 are work eligible ( the same way K-1 can get a SSN and not K-3)

K-1 work eligible

So lance im sorry if you are frustrated because you are on a K-3 and you have limited possibilities (sure sounds like it) but dont give wrong advice to other members if you have nothing to support what you are saying.

The 2 are related in her case since she says she wants to claim EI since she was told she cannot work for her Canadian Employer.

I said she IS work eligible, but the employer cant legally HIRE her because her SSN card would show that she needs DHS authorization which she hasnt.

If she wants to continue to work for her Canadian employer she can. Nowhere does it say Canadian employers cannot hire her if she does not have DHS authorization. She is eligible and Canadian employers are not required to verify if a person has EAD or not just as long as they are work authorized.

Now now... does this doesn't really help matters does it? I am in no way frustrated. I'm glad that people who want to apply for EI are able to on K1 visas and I know people on K3 and IR1/CR1s can claim too. K3s just have to wait the extra 3 months or so until they get their EAD I suppose. I on the other hand have put into EI for the last 12 years and never claimed once however I have no intention of claiming EI after leaving Canada. :)

I just dont get how you keep changing the subject here...

Her question was about the EI, the EI question we answered, the EI question you turned wrong saying she couldnt. Yes she can.

I got onto her canadian job thing because you brought up oh now she can work. Well this wasnt even the question in the beginning. Of course she cant work in the US, but technically since her address is IN the US i dont think she can work for a Canadian employer either.

And no the 2 cases arent related what so ever. I dont see how this EI issue is related with her asking if she can work or not.

Keisha can claim EI, thats all she wanted to know and you kept turning the subject on how she cant, etc, etc. Her question about working in Canada or not is already being debated in another thread, so im done with it.
