So they finally got around to re-instating my EI yesterday...but I'm a little worried.

It stated that such and such amount of money "was or will be deposited into your account on July 24, 2007"

I have yet to receive that deposit, and I have never had a problem with money going into my account. When it says it's going to be deposited, it's always been there that day.

Should I be worried? Or call?

I had a message yesterday saying that "was or will be deposited into your account on July 25" and at 12:30 am it was in there....SO I would definitely make sure your information is correct for your account or call them up.

I just received a call from Melanie at EI in Belleville. She informed me that the paperwork they sent to me here in Spokane has been returned as "undeliverable address". She confirmed the address with me and it's correct. Anybody have this problem before with receiving mail?

I had the Address problem as Misa stated , had to make them write the Address first and then the apartment number.

Another thing is the mailman told us if the name on the enveloppe doesnt match the name in the mailbox they return it. I had my EI in my maiden and my mailbox in my married name. So I added my maiden name in the mailbox and called EI to add my married name on the enveloppe. So now both show both names and the address is correct, so they sent me a bunch of cards.

Carla you might want to call them and file your cards on the phone because if its not done within 3 weeks of the last date it can cause delays in your claim. I did this because of all the undeliverable cards and everything worked alright  They also sent me the cards which I completed anyways even though my case was up to date online.

Hi Mephys, thanks for the info. What you say is exactly what happened to my mail. EI had my name on the envelope and the mailbox was in Lorry's name only. The mailman was only leaving the mail that was in her name.

I know now stuff that was sent to me in early July from Nova Scotia is probably on it's way back to there.

We went to the Post Office and got it all straightened out and changed the name in the mailbox.

Hopefully that will help me get my mail

Take care

Allie & Lorry

Everything is ok with the deposit now :)

I went anddouble checked to make sure that my direct deposit info was correct (which it was) and I thought, I'll give them until tomorrow.

It was there this morning. I guess just a lag. My money has always shown up in my bank account when it was supposed to, so this just worried me a little bit.

All is well.

Aint it feeling good :D

Excellent news!!!

Yes, receiving money is always excellent news

Comes at a good time too! I've been running around all day getting the car inspected, title and resistration, now I have to have the county look at it for personal property tax, then the town has to give us a decal...more and more money needed to get this little car going!

I'm pooped!

Thanks! Someone from EI got back to me and updated my info via phone. Don't know why I haven't gotten those cards though, but I am up to date now. I live in a house, nothing was returned to them, and I spoke to the mailman and he said he'll keep an eye open for them.

Yup, the validity date will be printed on the EAD so whatever that says is when your benefits are eligible to start up again (if you're beyond the first 90 days as a K1).

As soon as I got the email from CRIS saying I was approved for my greencard was the day I told them I was eligiable for work again, because that was when I actively started searching once again.

When I got the card, I just faxed the paperwork (my welcome to america letter) and a photocopy of the greencard. I got payments for days before the card was in hand.

If you are actively looking right now, and you got the email today, I would say that August 8 is your day when you were available :)

FYI: The validity date on my EAD started BEFORE card production was ordered. I got the card production ordered email on July 3. My card arrived July 7 but the validity period started on June 28. Then a week later on July 14 I got an approval email for the EAD... which I already had in hand. :P

just wanting to confirm a few things with those of you who have been doing this for a little while...

i can receive EI payments up until my I-94 expires, but after that they will stop until i get my EAD approved, correct? if this is the case, how long did it take for your EI payments to start again after sending in proof of your EAD?

how long, after sending in all your paperwork, did it take for your EAD to be approved (sort of off topic here, but not really)?

First contact: Oct 14/06

First meeting: Nov 6-13/06

Yes, you are correct about the I-94. EI will start up again from the day your EAD is approved and it's pretty quick to get re-started from my experience. Just make sure you keep on them, as the squeeky wheel gets the grease, and the office there is quite busy.

Please see my siggy for the time line for me :)

heres a quick timeline for mine

Left job April 12

Activated K-1 visa April 15

Applied for EI May 2

Visa expires July 14

Decision made on EI July 22

Received first payment for April15-July14 on July 25

I will receive my EAD within few days so I dunno yet how long to restart receiving benifits, but It can take quite a while before the first decision is made. I also had problems receiving the cards which didnt help.

Hope it helps
