Hi all!

My fiance is Peruvian and I am American. We'd like to get married in Peru and then file directly at the USCIS field office (DCF) in Lima for the i-130 petition so that we can move to the US. I read that I need to prove residency in Peru for at least 6 months before we can file the petition. I've also seen that I will need a Carnet de Extranjeria to show I am a resident. So my question is, does the 6 month residency requirement begin:

1) the day I arrive in Peru,

2) the day we get married,

3) the day I receive my Carnet de Extranjeria

4) something else?

If anyone has gone through this specifically in Peru, I'd love to hear your experiences and suggestions. Thanks so much!

I think you really should contact the embassy directly. From what I have read on this site DCF is not common and some embassy's do not even do them anymore. It would really suck to make plans and go live there for 6 months just to find out that they will not accept it.
