McCain pretty much put the so-called president in his place today.

McCain Returns to Washington to Cast a Vote to Help the President Who Derided Him

WASHINGTON — Senator John McCain is less the lion of the Senate than its wildcat, veering through the decades from war hero to Republican presidential nominee to irascible foil for an unlikely president.

On Tuesday, the Arizona Republican ambled gingerly into the Capitol to sustained applause less than two weeks after brain surgery, casting a vote to aid President Trump, who has served as more tormentor than ally.

But moments later in a speech on the Senate floor, Mr. McCain turned what had been an applause-pecked moment for his colleagues — whom he saved from an embarrassing failure on the floor — into an ominous cloud for any health care legislation. He said that although he had voted to begin debate on repealing the Affordable Care Act, he would definitely not vote for a Senate health care bill without major changes.

There is a reason McCain's fellow POWs called him songbird. Just saying.

McCain is the darling of the Left (except of course when he was running against Obama in 2008) as he always says we need to compromise and have bi-partisanship.  The only thing about this is that the Dems never ever compromise (reference the eight years under Obama), so McCain is simply telling the GOP they have to move more Left/Socialist to get anything done.  I am fine with Congress not accomplishing anything that pushes our economy more to the Left.

Doesn't that sound rather familiar? You are justifying your stance because of the essentially the exact opposite stance that the lefts took in the last 8 years. Accomplishing less to avoid pushing our society to the right. If the Republicans do that this go around it will only further cement future childish behavior where both groups just sit on their hands and say "No I don't wanna" like a 2 year old.

Not to mention, with the exception of Obamacare, there seemed to be very few purely unilateral bills passed under Obama. Most had at least 1 Republican, many had more.
