Hello. I'm hoping someone can give me an answer as I've yet to receive one. I've been in the US for almost 4 years after being granted Asylum from Pakistan. I have petitioned for my husband and daughter to follow. We have filed all the necessary paperwork. EVERYTHING has been approved. USCIS. NVC. My husband interviewed in Islamabad on 2/17/2016. The petition has been approved and I have received a notification informing me of this and that the Visas allowing them to come to the US will be issued. That was a year and a half ago! I can't get any updated information at all. I have inquired about the case status thru CEAC and the last update was 7/20/17 stating that administrative processing is ongoing! That is what I have received since everything was approved and he was informed they would be receiving Visas. It says the same thing every time every couple of months, administrative processing.....

Does anyone have any idea what is going on? Why would it take over a year to actually receive the Visas once everything is complete and approved? Of course contacting the US Consulate is of no help because, if they even answer the phone, they don't give any information over the phone. I've sent emails, faxes and have contacted my State Senator with no luck or info. Help please!

The truth is, no one really know how long administrative processing will take. It can be days, months and unfortunately in cases like yours, years. I don't want to sound harsh but you are from Pakistan, which might account for the delays in background checks/processing in this particular political climate. We don't choose where we are born, but it complicates the journey for some of us. Have you guys discussed other options but the U.S? When you contacted your senator, what did they say? Do you have a lawyer? is there something in particular that might be delaying the process that you could think of, as minor as it might seem? I bet you miss your husband and daughter like crazy, I am so sorry you have to go through this. And I hope it gets resolved soon!

Everything is not completed and approved until after AP has been completed.

AP = Terrorism checks for a male beneficiary from Pakistan; in very rare cases it can take several years.

MENA AP can take a long time for males.

lol, welcome to club sania. My brother's wife and kids are in same boat as your husband and daughter.

Lemme quickly explain you the situation. Applied asylum got approved. Applied i-730 got approved. Pushed uscis to send the case to nvc and it took almost a year for them just to sent it to nvc for processing and that was when i involved obdusman. Anyways, Nvc took another one month to send it  to islamabad embassy and finally last year they had interview.

Almost  a year and half now embassy kept their passport and sitting on'em like snake - telling them cases are in administrative processing. Really? what kinda scrutiny you need to do for a female and her under 5 years kids. Isnt it frustating....:/  i feel pitty for my brother who daily check their status before getting up from bed.

I involved senetor, congressman, lawyer, sent emails my self but all i get response is AP thing which cannot be expedite or waived.

I would suggest you  to stop emailing them... because they gonna take their time no matter how much you are suffering they just dont care!

you can always visit your family on emergency grounds on your green card even though you are an asylee. Shhhh

That would be a very dangerous suggestion considering the situation.

In general yes it is but i say emergency. i have several examples where people make a short term visit due to emergency and immigration people let them re-enter on humantarian grounds, all you need to show a proof of emergency on your return. Rest am not a lawyer and my advise/opinions are based on personal experiences. Always, Consult your lawyer before making any move.

You jeopardise your green card by claiming asylum from country X and receiving a green card on that basis, but then travel there.
